How to Identify engine size code
Hi, I was looking at an engine today and trying to identify it's size. The code on it is 901 106 101 5R. It was in a chasis with a Vin from a 73 but dressed to look like a much newer car. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, John |

if it's the stock engine from a '73 then it is a 2.4 liter mg. case. They can be rebuilt to 2.7
the # you gave is the casting number from '72 or early '73 the engine # is to the right of the fan on a vertical boss of the case

Hi Bill, Thanks for the info. The current owner doesn't know anything about it other than he was told by the PO that it had been rebuilt and upgraded to more horsepower. Of course, that could mean anything. I will have to dig deeper.
Thanks, John
