Not much to report. The tub is at the body shop in a queue to get prepped and painted.

Hey Teo,

Just got up to date last evening on your build and came across a familiar picture:

I knew I recognized it because I took it! Glad to be able to help out if even in the most insignificant of ways.
While everyones waiting for some more pics of the build (I love Mexico Blue BTW it a great color to live with too. I had it on my '74 Targa and liked it more and more each day) here are a few more of the Cox Motorsports build ffrom above:

Beautiful car! Look at the attention to details for the interior. Fantastic!

Thanks for the pics! It was an inspiration!

Matteo, long time no info! How's the project coming?

Craig 930 RS 09-07-2006 02:57 PM

HANS. Smart.

What can I say...
The car is still at the body shop. Since we could not give them a precise ETA my project was put in a queue.

Then when they started on it they found that was some of the powder coating that spilled over to the outside of the tub. That meant that they had to sped a long time to get it off...

I am going to see them this afternoon for an update.

Still I don't think it's coming out any time before the end of Sep...

Last year (3.6 swap and widebody conversion) I learnt that there is no point in getting stressed abt the time... These things take forever and whatever you have in mind in terms of how long it will take you should triple it (same as with your initial budget ;))

Oh yeah. Good luck - it will be worth the wait.

Matteo, just wanted to let you know that you are in 3rd place for most viewed threads in the 911 Tech forum. lol. Sadly, you are right under the "Ultimate Targa" thread... :)

we need more food...

eimkeith 09-21-2006 03:27 AM

us too, lol...

911teo 09-21-2006 05:18 AM

I went to the body shop last week.

This is the gist of it... after they started working on the car (3 weeks after it was dropped there) they found some of the powder coating had spilled over on wthe outside (rear quarter panel, roof, windscreen wipers area).

So they had to spend some time in getting that off.

I trust these guys... last year they did a great job on my other car so...

Are they slow? YEEESSSS but hey...

The idea of the Nov-11 DE at VIR is slipping away...

911 in SC 09-21-2006 05:30 AM

As long as you're happy, that's all that matters. I'm sure you trust them, and they obviously know what you expect. Of course, you want it, but you want it 'done right', so it's going to be worth the wait.

That said, I hope to get a ride in it when you get it back! Charlotte isn't that far away (1.5-2 hours). :D

Part of the deal.. I cannot tell you how many blown dead lines/missed events there have been on every car I have ever built.... keep setting the goals, keep trying to make events..the disappointment of not making it is our payment to the racing Gods...the joy and fun when we finally do make it is the positive payback:) Keep the faith !

mjshira 09-21-2006 07:49 AM

did you get the UPS I sent?

911teo 09-21-2006 08:08 AM

Dude

I totally forgot to thank you. I am so so sorry... Also I sold the 3.6 locally. With the 993 HE. So we are square if ok with you!

I agree, this is how I am taking it... Plus the 993 is a decent ride anyway ;)
