I applaud Matteo for his open book and no-holds-barred approach. He's building the dream and letting us all live vicariously! This is very special! To me the essence of Matteo's project is that of all custom hot rods and even some specialty race cars, which end up unique, but more importantly, real-life representations of the owner's dream! Why build a custom hot rod when you can buy a Chevy SSR or Plymouth Prowler? To me, it is just not the same. To those that buy the factory hot rod, good for you!

The 964 floor pan is in.
The RSR front pan is in. The structural reinforcement to the rear struts are done. The front camber towers are in. The tub is going to be "baked" and then they will apply powder coating for all the interior at the beginning of next week. We looked into acid dipping but decided for the "baking" process. It should take 1 week. Then it is off to the body shop. Putting it back together should be 2-3 weeks.... The 3.6 Vram will go in at first. Timmins is working on the 3.9L right now... These are the pics of the new floor pan. Note how Keith and Aaron left the t-bar housing intact. Eventually that is going to go (well the transmission need to go in the middle) and they are going to weld the pick up points for the banana arms to the original housing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1148506004.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1148506019.jpg For the inside I wanted to retain the 2 back seats. Matteo, do you have an estimated completion date for the 3.9L? I've been watching this thread with great interest (and no patience!!). I would like to have a similar motor built and am interested in the 3.9L's hp/tq when dialed in. My congratulations on undertaking such an expensive and unique project. I would like to have a similar engine built (within reason) and mate it to a strengthened 915. My head swims when I try to figure out what you are spending on the engine/trans alone (north of $50K by my estimation!). I'll start a thread this summer documenting the project as Porsche Doc works his magic with metal! Great project! Mike P

You might try Sunset Imports in Oregon - they had the RS shifter (not the rod) in stock at good prices.
You should also know that Wevo makes a semi-solid motor mount. It's not well advertised, but I have a set in my car. Awesome project! |
The shifter isn't that expensive, the rod is, I suggested that Wevo might be interested in making these, if not i'll be retired soon and may take up a new hobby.

the fork is 964 424 017 01 the rod is 964 424 020 35 M8x21.5 bolt 999 074 042 22 washer N 011 654 5 everything else is normal 993 |
Matteo, If you get a chance, take a side view pic of the /31 trans mount. I'm curious to see if it's any different from the /30 on my car.

I was pretty close to breaking the no cussing rule here as I finally took the time to take in some of the details here. This car is going to be every guy here's wet dream. Way to go!!
