Duckworth - it is a Timmins-built, Dawe's-tuned 3.9L based on a 993 motor. All we've done is depinned and cleaned up the harness, and given the vacuum system a materials-revision - basically an engine facelift so that everything gels visually with the car itself...

I drove i about 30mins ago and it has a satisfying lope at idle and is not extremely loud. Car feels pretty light from the driver's seat, good stuff.

jmz 07-26-2007 05:34 PM

Hey Keith,

Have y'all put it on the scales yet? I'm curious what the car weighs in it's finished state.

Congrats on finishing the project ...or nearly finishing it. I'm sure Matteo will be really stoked once he finally gets his foot in it.

Cheers,
JZ

911teo 07-27-2007 02:04 AM

HA! I'll be back in the US on Monday. Can't wait to see it/drive it...

Weight... I will guess around 2,350 with half a tank, fluids and roll bar. That should give us a power to weight ratio close to 6....

This is the most interesting stage of the whole project.......
Once it's on the road, the fundamentals of the motor, mapping, timing etc. diminish to some degree. But hey, you got your hands full with it.....and most likely have things to work on besides entertaining pelicanites.

Excellent updates thus far...

Basically...., we're all curious about the powerplant.

As Keith said the motor was built by Timmins and tuned by Peter Dawe.

It has a 993 case, 3.9L displacement, upgraded rods, springs, retainers, solid rockers, ported heads, bigger/lighter valves, ITBS (Jenveys) induction, aggressive cams, Motec M600 ECU.

Peter (very busy as we are in the middle of the racing season) tuned it and was impressed by the torque. He's sending me the dyno sheets but the motor was putting down 310 rwhp at 7,000rpms.

The cams are designed to hit the peak HP at 7,600rpms.

So (very grossly) at 7000rpm the motor is putting down 232.5 ft/lb of torque.

We'll lose some torque but at 7,600 I would think the motor would put down around 330rwhp.

We can talk numbers all day long.. I am not interested much in wether it puts out 375hp or 390hp. To me driveability and throttle response are top....

Plus if Mr Dawe was happy with it.. then I am happy too....

Dutchie 07-27-2007 02:43 AM

310 rwhp at 7,000rpms that,s awesome Teo ! i would gladly take the boat over to see that car

Cheers,

Taking into consideration what this car has underneath it's skin, visually it is somewhat understated.
By the way it's AWESOME looking!:eek::eek:

porsche911girl 08-02-2007 07:09 PM

*DROOL FACTOR!!!*

wow it looks just like the picture of a blue (IROC?) Porsche in one of my books that I've decided I want to turn the SC into...;)

Facey 08-02-2007 07:29 PM

i'm surprised about the black headlight rings/brezel's? why are they not body coloured???

-great looking car, love the stance, love the blue in all light, and love the wing, been a while since i've liked any wings..

Contrast, my man, contrast.

That's how it was done back in the day.

barney911rs 08-02-2007 09:36 PM

Nice!!!

jhelgesen 08-03-2007 04:06 AM

Anyone interested in a little parking lot swap, as long as we're all there? Save a trip to Thomasville? I may have a few goodies in the back of the truck......

johndglynn 08-03-2007 05:00 AM

Oh yeah baby, that is one sexy b*st*rd right there ;)

911teo 08-03-2007 05:50 AM

We are nearly there.

Honeslty with the risk of sounding a jackass the pictures do not do it justice. The car is beautiful. And especially when it's on the road...

As you can see there are a couple of little things that need to be addressed (the rear view mirror will be swapped for a black one, the brake ducts need to be installed and the bumper cut, the oil cooler grill mounted etc) but we are se close now....

Congratulations Matteo!! JMO but I think the headlight trim in blue might be a bit nicer

Curious as to why the parking brake add on?

Bill, remember this car will be running centerlocks once the wheels are made. Thus the RSR style e-brake. There is no "add on" even at this time, that is it.

my friend I am very happy for you! keep the pictures coming. Well done! 911 and Porsche World article anyone????

DW SD 08-03-2007 09:56 AM

Teo-
How's it drive? What are your impressions? I'm eager to hear the first hand impressoins.

How does it feel, sound, smell, taste, look, etc, etc???? Inquiring minds want to know :D We are living vicariously.

Doug

911teo 08-03-2007 10:08 AM

Have not driven it yet.... apart from around the block... we have 80% allignment, missing the rear sway etc.

We needed to get the car running in order to pass the DMV inspection (applying for a new title).

Whilst we wait for the title (before shipping it) Keith and Aaron will sort all the little things...

I might drive it around a bit this afternoon...

DaddyGlenn 08-03-2007 10:19 AM

I can't believe I've been missing this! Wish I could make the trip ....

What about using something like the Brembo handbrake calipers? They use them on Ultimas with the big brake kit so would fit over 930 discs I think. Pic:

back in the day they were chrome... i believe they were black in the 80's...

i'm not saying it looks bad at all, as it does not, it looks 110% amazing, outright PORNSCHE!!!

but JMO colour matched brezels would be an improvement.

boba 08-04-2007 04:05 AM

John,

You are correct there are a few paths to meet the e-brake need, we wanted to replicate the original RSR part. This is a close copy of that RSR part, and now we can use it for other centerlock or RSR type projects.

Regards,
Bob

Ah I see Bob, great idea. What kind of finish will it have or is that undecided?

porsche911girl 08-04-2007 11:12 AM

I'll volunteer to write an article about the car for any mag that's interested. I am majoring in journalism, after all, and writing about Porsches is a dream job.

Old ones maybe but the new stuff not so much.

I'm sure there'll be no prob getting that car featured in 911 & Porsche World, surprised there hasn't been a scrum to do the piece already. Should end up in every Porsche mag over here in the fullness of time.

barney911rs 08-05-2007 11:17 AM

Dead right - plus you are post #s 993 and 997 in this thread, so the new-Porsche numerology has you karma'd there also.

If you want to get published for Porsche stuff or whatever, then just start writing and submit it, take a chance. You never know what mags will pick up on in your style and choice of material, especially if you have shops like Keith's to write about on your doorstep ;)

strosekmega 08-06-2007 06:28 PM

So...

HOW FAST IS THIS THING>??????? :)

strosekmega 08-06-2007 06:29 PM

I've only wanted to know that answer since FOREVER!!! Your car is SICK!!!
