I've gone through a bottle of nice Australian wine reading this thread and can't begin to tell everyone what a great enjoyment it has been. Not the wine but the thread. I work in the Philippines and go home twice a year and get to drive my Porsche, and to read about the things you guys do makes me very envious. I am in the process of making a decision of buying a new Porsche but after this thred I think the ultimate would be to bring a older one to a better life. I have been preping my wife for the day ( only cost me a complete upgrade for the kitchen and master bath) when I would buy my next Porsche and am about there. I think I have made my mind up on what direction to take. Oh Yea...

No no no... Matteo. I personally do not own a ZR-1. I am just saying that I KNOW OF several ZR-1's that will frankly dust an Enzo badly in a straight line (almost two seconds in a quarter mile, but Ferrari's and Enzo's aren't really that fast anyways), which is what I gathered the gentleman above was referring to.

well we all know drag cars, however i don't think ANYONE here would say they are the fastest cars. The fastest car i can think of would have to be the new audi (diseal) le mans cars....those are fast.

and a tiny note: ferrari's/enzo's are fast cars... easily in the top 1% of all cars.

wow, I just stumbled on this build, EPIC!!!!!! Congrats Mateo, I'm along for the ride.

Matteo: I read a thing yesterday where there have been some 1/2 shaft failures reported of late on the GT's. It happens under accel. Apparently, not enough for a recall, but there are some spacers that can be installed to fortify them. Just an FYI that was in the Autoweek headlines on Tuesday...

The halfshatf failure has been beaten up to death on the FordGtforum. It happens randomly and it has been documented for less than 1% of the cars.
I do have the "upgraded" kits (one from Ford, one better from Accufab) in my car, together with a AAA card in my wallet...

If it happens it will be fixed... I don't worry abt it...

A couple of updates... (pics will be coming on Friday)

- Aaron finished applying the Alcantara to the interiors. Basically all the roof liner, A-pillars, B-pillars and C pillars are covered in the balck material. It looks awesome. Classy, luxurious and yet very sporty.
We are debating wether to use Alcantara to cover the center tunnel, or leave the metal (remember it is powder coated in Mexico Blue) exposed...

- The 993 windows have been applied. Again great job as these mount flush to the body. I love the contrast the black seals make with the Mexico Blue paint.

- I have nearly decided on the second set of wheels. As you might know I am going with centerlocks and 15" RSR forged replica wheels.
For the track though I am going to use a 17" wheel. I went back and forth toying with a lot of different designs... But I think I found the perfect one (thanks to an illustrious member of this board).

The 956 wheels would be the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae! I cannot wait to see the pics of the progress on this car, it should definitely be an Excellence magazine cover story when it's finished! :)

Well those are the original 956 wheels used to make the look-alike.

My wheels will not be as wide.

We have decided to go with a 3-piece wheel for the replicas (both RSR and 956) so that I can keep the center in case I opt for the extra wide RSR bodywork in the future...

I'd say go for the alcantara center tunnel. That's basically what I am doing.

I went with black alcantara with a white stitching covered over a carbon fiber mold I made of the center tunnel with hole screws. To take the center tunnel off, all you have to do is unbolt the seats, shifter and e-brake. Probably a little less than a half hour's worth of work, and you wont have to glue your pretty powdercoated tunnel.

Those 956 are too cool. 3 piece would be convinient but you will lose the hollow spokes, which is probably their coolest feature.

I would leave the tunnel uncovered.

The hollow spokes are just impossible to replicate... Well with enough cash we can do it... but in all honesty I am pulling back a little here....

anyway, i like the wheels. it's almost a keg. not sure why you didn't pick fuchs.

Those wheels will look amazing, I would probably go with grey or black on the blue....although the silver would look fine.

It is a long story about the Fuchs... I do have a set of 17" Lindsey Fuchs in RSR finish that are brand new....

But I decided to go with centerlocks and Fuchs + centerlocks does not look proper... so RSR + 956 is the final decision.

matteo, i can't wait to see your blue demon. i bet it can keep up with your GT.

p.s. i have an idea. i'll drive the mexico blue demon and you drive the GT. he he he : -)

Matteo, for track wheels, if you're trying to continue with the weight loss program, look into the Dymag rims. They're Carbon Fiber barrels with Magnessium centers. Also, very nice looking rims! EXTEMELY light weight, I think the 18 x 10's are like 14lbs. available in centerlock or 5 lug. Here's a little thing about the ones that come stock on the Moseler. http://www.dymag.com/index2_e.html

Looking good Matteo! I'm even more jealous now...I can't follow in your rim/centerlock footsteps just yet...have to sort the engine & tranny first. BTW, any more info on the powerplant? That teaser about less than 5 lbs/hp just won't suffice!
