Martin

the wheels situation is very complicated right now. It's a rush against time to get the hubs here so that we can take the measurements and send them to the wheel maker.

These guys are in stand by but it will always take a few weeks to get them done (especially as they are custo made).

So since I need to have the car rolling and in working condition when I ship it I might have to take the Lindseys with me....

I am sure we'll be able to find an agreement ;)

Hi Matteo,

I'm really looking forward to seeing this in the flesh when you come over. Can I ask where you got your tacho adjusted and the new face for it?

Thanks,

David

I spoke with Keith and Aaron about this. This is what they answered to my question:

Q: Did the 993 windshield just fit as it was or did u have to modify anything? It is glued in, right? Should increase stiffness no?

A: Fit as it was. There is an additional 993 specific inner seal that lifts the windshield to make it flush.

The windshield is glued to that inner seal and to the surrounding window opening (or headliner, which is in that opening…)

The outer seal fits in a metal channel that is made onto the windshield.

I can’t speculate on the torsional advantage, but windshield urethane is some serious stuff, so it is possible that there could be some benefit in that area.

Wind noise should be reduced, regardless."

Doug I hope this helps.

Matteo,
Thank you. Interesting!
I read a thread the other day about guys trying to fit the trim-less 964 windshield and couldn't get it to work.

Matteo, make sure you have Zuffenhaus make up a comprehensive wiring diagram for the Motec harness and the ancilliary electrical schematic for a car that is going across the pond, it will save you a world of hurt.

Jon Merck 04-18-2007 06:44 AM

I met Matteo yesterday and got to see all the bits and pieces yet to be installed, this car is really going to be special! Can't wait to see it on track. :D

Amazing work these guy's are doing... I had the opportunity to see Matteo's car during EuroWerks open house. Yes, the car is as beautiful as the pictures reflect. Hope to meet you Matteo and see your very special 911 when completed... Thanks for keeping all of us informed.

Good idea.

The guy I would recommend for MoTeC over here is a complete genius with the kit, but is a Porsche guy first, MoTeC guy second. Last time I was down there he was mapping a V12 E-Type with individual Jenvey throttle bodies!

He has lots of 911s running on MoTeC, and I have never met a guy so passionate about it. He's a zero BS, down-to-earth bloke who really knows his stuff. You should come and meet him when you are over Teo, he will love the car. Proper proper Porsche mechanic.

John

thanks for the heads up. I will certainly do that. There are a couple of shops that I want to visit when I am over... NineMeister also comes to mind...

We'll see... How is PCGB? Lots of DEs and track days? I can't wait to get this thing on the track.

I don't do the PCGB thing these days mate but lots of guys like it. Easy sign up for a year and see how you get on. They do quite a few track events and you can go see the lie of the land before you take the car out on one.

We go on track with a super organisation who really look after us and weed out all the numbskulls, so everything is safe, fun and fast. Lots of Porsches and lots of laughs, great tracks, almost no stoppages and not expensive. If you want to spend more money there are clubs like RMA who are probably at the top of the UK track day tree, but I am more than happy with the service we get from the friends we go out with. Silverstone GP, Spa and Donington GP this year as well as a Snetterton day.

Next year we have the run to Classic Le Mans - the track to end all tracks. We are thinking of doing a track day there in 2008 also with one of the French clubs. Oooh your car will love it over here ;)

Trim Material

Matteo,

What is the black border material or trim that is apparent in the first of the newest pics. IE those that show the door as well as the pillar trim?

jpahemi 04-18-2007 05:44 PM

Was there any reason the roll bar didn't have mounting points extending into the engine bay? There seems to be a mounting plate just past the shock tower reinforcement area that would've made a good spot.

RennSport930 04-18-2007 06:17 PM

WOW!! can't wait to see this monster fire up!!

jmz 04-18-2007 07:11 PM

JP, I think he plans on taking the roll bar out to allow the kids to go for rides in the blue rocket ship.

jpahemi 04-18-2007 07:18 PM

Ahh, that would makes sense.
