Well
I screwed with Timmins until the end... First I told him to build a street engine for my daily driver. Half way to the built I changed my mind (when I bought the 993) and changed the cams on him. I also always told him i would drive up the car and he could tune the motor in the car... Now there is no time for me to do that... so he's going to have to tune the engine without the car and we'll install it here when everything is done. For cold starts, partial throttle etc he's going to use a donor car.... So I will not post any actual number until I have the word go from Dr Timmins. I don't think we'll be below 5lb/hp though... I must have been high if I said that.... Shooting for a high 5s number ;) |

I have not heard from Excellence... I doubt there will be enough time though....
As per Motec/EFI... I think it could be done at a later stage. Also Motec is quite "expensive" compared to other systems like DTA etc. I went with Motec because I found a deal from a fellow pelican. In fact Motec is the reason I decided to "upgrade" the engine. Basically I bought the ECU before anything else. At the time I was contemplating buying a 993TT engine to stuff in the car... but then I really wanted an NA motor... and the Motec would have been wasted on a stock 3.6 V-ram..... |
Total 911 or 911 & Porsche World should be able to look after you.
Cheers, David |
So I went to Zuffenhaus yesterday... the car is coming along nicely... we are on schedule to meet the May 1st deadline so that Aaron and Keith can take it to the Treffen show.
Anyway I took some pics of little details that I thought were interesting.... I reduced the pics yday quickly and I think I reduced them too much.. sorry for the low quality... The gauges are in and they look gorgeous. I decided to have the background metal exposed so we closed every hole/switch... I love the black/blue contrast http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175860242.jpg 320 km/h ?? :D :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175860302.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175860336.jpg 8k redline... Carrera RSR logo.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1175860386.jpg |
Another neat detail is the GT3 RSR quick release hub customized to be mounted on my car...

A picture of the 993 RS shifter and details of the G50/31 transmission.... note the RS rods, mounts and solid couplers...

A couple of misc pics of the single wiper conversion and the 993 windshield seal...

Thanks for the pics. The dash looks awesome. I like the RSR insignia on the tach.

Looking great!
Why not set the mileage to zero in the odometer? Or is that how many miles are on the 964 belly pan :D ??? Really incredible. Will you be at Treffen, too? Or just your car? Doug |
I think it's illegal to reset the mileage on the odometer.
128k is what I had on my 88. Arguably this is a new car... but I don't know the legalities of it... I cannot personally make it to Treffen.... plus it's an R-Gruppe thing... I hope they are not going to burn my car... ;) |

As far as legalities, I think it is just illegal to roll it back without documenting. I have been meaning to set my back to the point where the motor was newly rebuilt (that was about 600 miles ago). Sure seems fitting to put the miles back to zero. Besides, it now reads in KM/ H rather than MP/H, so you just chopped off 40%. Looks gorgeous! Doug |
Ahahah there are both mph and km/h.
For legal reasons in the UK I need to have both on the speedo. I am not sure if it applies to a 1974 car.. but I didn't want to have problems.... so I did both.... |
very nice matteo. can't wait to see it done. absolutely stunning stuff.

LOVE the black/blue contrast very nice!
the details on this car are simply amazing!!! i wish i could see it in person, but even photos are making my gaw drop.... what is the attraction of the 993 windshield? |
The windshield is glued in thus increasing the torsional rigidity of the tub.
Also the rubber seals for all windows are different, allowing for a flush mount that reduces the drag. These are minimal improvements but since everything was off we decided to go for it. |
Did they have to install a 993 window frame (the metal) to make it work? I read some posts elsewhere that said later windows don't fit the earlier tubs.

If you fancy helping out a poor Brit (with a forthcoming RSR conversion) by squeezing those 'spare' Lindsey fuchs into your UK bound container, I'd be more than happy to cover the full purchase cost. Otherwise a fantastic project and look forward to seeing this amazing 'work of art' in the UK. Martin 911SC 3.6 |
