How in the heck did you break your leg @ RR3??

I agree that it was a good article, but I think they can appease the techies as well. The way to do it would be to just list a spec sheet with a list of the aftermarket parts and possibly a little list of attributes like you might find in Road and Track.

I think the trend of the magazine has been towards an audience that more approximates the people on this board. My $.02.

In all the reading of threads here, this was the only thread I've seen where the project brought the attention from a female car buff.

Fwiw, .....it's pretty rare for any female to express keen interest in our cars - let alone ask for a ride in one. ...Not likely that will happen again soon. ...:)

after a 'Porsche sabbatical' lasting nearly 8 years due to family, work, house renovation, etc., the article in Excellence and this thread (I just finished reading all 58 pages over the last 3 days!!!) have inspired me to return to my roots and reaffirm my 130% Porsche silliness. I'd already planned to un-mothball my 911 next spring; like you I'd always pictured my 2 daughters in the kiddy seats in the back of a 911 and if I don't hurry, they're going to be too big! Unfortunately, you've put me in a bit of a quandary. My original plans were to put my 911 ('76 911 turned into a SC CS replica) on the road so that I'd have the kids-in-the-back experience while building a 996/7 into something akin to a 997 GT-3 RS for street/track use. On the other hand I've always loved wide-bodied 911's, and your car has got me thinking that this is what I need first. So what to do? Stick with my original plans or turn my 911 into an RSR? Descisions, descisions.

I'm writing all this as an extended compliment to you, Aaron, Keith and the guys at Zuffenhaus, the Prof Timmins, and all others involved. I know its been written before, but this is a truly awe inspiring (and generally inspirational!) project.

Please give a heads-up on events you plan to attend in the UK or mainland, 'ring trips, etc. so that that line can form for rides...

I have a 1966 rsr clone. I currently have 9 and 11 x 17 inch speedlines. I cannot find deep fuchs anywhere. Where did you get yours?

my wheels are Lindsey Fuchs, 9.5x17 and 11x17.

Zuffenhaus and Jeff Alton are developing a 3 piece (hidden bolts) forged modular Fuch wheel. It will be avaliable in 15, 16, 17, 18 diameters with a vast choice sizes.

I am not sure of the timetable, but they should be ready before the Summer.

And please do post pics of your 66 hot rod!

My Apologies jmz: This car is AMAZING ! Now I have something to shoot for. I am pretty new here and didnt realize there were almost 60 pages to date. I only read through the first few pages when I posted as I was short on time. But now I see the light ! I am thoroughly impressed !

I would say no.... you may have a bad wheel bearing or some other issue.

Is it always the same corner? Could it be the wide tires following some imperfection in the pavement. If you get the same sensation in lots of corners, then I would agree with Rory that you may have a wheel bearing, ball joint, or some other suspension issue you need to investigate.

It s on all hard downhill onramps. I should also note that at speeds above 60 the steering wheel wiggles a bit as well. I think I will take it in . I also noticed that the front lug nuts only turn about 7-8 times to tight. I the wheels look right in offset but I think I may need longer studs in the front as well as the other issues. After this is fixed I think this thing should be really nice. The motor and tranny are really strong.

Matteo, congratulations on the completion and article. I read it while I was on leave back in the US, but after reading through ALL of your thread, the twists and turns all the while sustaining wonderful progress I think Excellence gave it a fair shake for their readers.

Your thread is a HUGE reason why I went searching for the bits and pieces I have, the reason I went from doing a simple repaint to what its turning into. Your creation, along with Jack Olsen's beautiful 911 inspired me to accomplish a dream. For that I say thank you.

After re-reading through much of this thread and the more recent responses, I have to say congrats once more. Yours just might be the best short-hood hot-rod I've seen thus far. :) There is just so much so right on the car. I'll be sorry to see the five-lug 17s go. To me, they are just sooooooooooooooooooo right.

As to capturing all of the magic on this thread in seven pages, well, I'm not sure that's possible this side of a book, and maybe not even then. This is a different medium, and it sure has its advantages....
