JP what can I say.... when you increase the displacement something has got to give.

I am not a professional... so I left it with the people that do this for a living. At CMW they race these things.... if it goes bang it means it was a little too much... ;)

Having said that I have seen some 3.8 jugs and I honestly could not tell the diffs between these and the 3.9 form a picture...

Any updates, This is a real interesting build.

Not much to report...

The strut towers and the RSR front air scoop have been welded to the tub. I haven't had the time to go to the shop and take pics last week...
Waiting until they start cutting to stuff the G50/31 in there...

But in the meanwhile I decided to go more aggressive on the cams...
I sort of given up on the idea of this being a family car...

So out go the DC-22 and in come the DC-62. The new cams will produce max HP at around 7,600rpm and max torque at 5,700. A bit peaky but with the short geared transmission I think it will be fun.

I am also thinking of getting a second set of wheels for the track. I love the Kodiaks

I also like the Jongbloed wheels. I read somewhere they are the lightest wheels currently awaliable.. I like the JRW 305 aero.

What do you guys think? I will keep the Lindsey Fuchs in RSR finish for daily driving...

I say go all or nothing on the track/street approach. By that, I mean if you are thinking of camming up the motor then go ahead and really go for it. Leave the street behind and look for maximum track performance in every area. Don't bother with the license plate, ever.

If you really do have plans for street driving as something more than 10% of the total time, then don't make the motor too peaky.

CMP is going to be really tight... certainly the new engine won't be in the car by then... Roebling is tempting.... But I am going away for the weekend... trying to convince the wife to change to the following one...

Otherwise it'll be 6/24 @ CMP or 6/23 at Roebling. Then VIR with car guys in Agust

NASA has an event June 17-18 at Rockingham, it is close by and alot of fun! Let me know if you are going to Roebling...

Today the gauges arrived from North Hollywood Speedometer...

They look great.

I decided to drop the clock and have a Volt/Trans Temp gauge done.

Also the oil temp has been converted to numerical (Celsius), the Speedometer to Km/h outside and MPH inside and the Tach up to 10k with redline at 8k :D

Matteo, I just ordered a set of 17" Kodiaks for an SC I'm buying. I don't know if there's someone in your neck of the woods that sell them but I ordered mine from Jerry St. Germaine at Euro East, he's a great guy to deal with. I think the best part about the Kodiaks is you're getting comparable quality to a Fikse or Kinesis, but not paying a premium for name recognition. Good luck on the rest of your project, I'm following it with bated breath!! :)

they did my gauges, I have the same clock replacement, nice!

My 2 sets of Kodiaks should be ready in about 10 days...... can't wait. Plus, they are about a 20 min drive from my house! I have seen their opertion first hand and it is first class.

Are those trans temps celsius or fahrenheit?

Ha! Jack I hadn't even notice. It has to be Celsius. I didn't specify it to them but told them I wanted the oil temp in Celsius.

If it is Farenheit it will go off scale.

It always bugged me that they won't/can't do the volts starting from the other direction. I specified that when I ordered and they didn't even call to tell me that they couldn't do it.

On Friday Keith and Aaron from Zuffenhaus went to DC Automotive to cut open a 964.

Basically we have decided it was better to use the floor pan of the 964 to house the G50-31. The transmission mounts on the 964 are the same as on the 993 and since the 964 rear suspension was an evolution of the 911s (rather that the completely new design of the 993) Keith and Aaron said it was easier to adapt to my tub.

I am planning on going to the shop either today or tomorrow and take some pics.

The front mods should be done (RSR front pan for better oil cooling flow and smart racing camber towers) and right now the car is on the rotissery for the major floor pan surgery.

It should make the subject for some nice pics....

this is going to be a unique car for sure!
