Good point about metallics setting off the 930 curves. Mine is Prussian Blue, whose hue changes slightly depending on the light; a guess is it's UV/blue sensitive.

porscheboy16- great choice for a Independent shop to go to. I am friends with Heinz and he helped me restore my 911 and his father rebuilt my 2.7. The Karosserie is a very cool mostly 356 restoration shop which actually had a real 550 spyder in there last year for some resto stuff. I cant say enough good things about Louis and the guys over there.

Anyway for color choice I would go with non metallic. Its easier to touch up. Is Kurk Keller painting your car?

I painted mine late 90s vw tornado red....had to do over I would go more dark cause its too close to Gard's red.....most important if you go base coat clear coat lil nicks are ez to fix.

I wouldn't worry about 10 years from now or selling it. Do what your dreams tell you (although we dream in black and white, so they say). My son, who is your age goes absolutely Ga-Ga with the orange so I guess that would be my suggestion. Also I haven't seen that many out there.

Those are the kind of choices we all want to wrangle with.

Let us know what you do and post pics.

I don't know the guy's name, but it is the painter they use exclusively.

How about that blue that was used on those 50 997S that PCNA had a drawing for. I think there was on on the cover Excellence last month. I would post the color if I knew how but maybe someone knows what I'm talking about.

I like the color, but I already have a dark green 911 (British Racing Green).

I don't care about resale because this car will not be sold, it has too much sentimental value. It was my father's car.

My father warned me about yellow cars. He said that when he had one (in the 70's, non-Porsche) that it faded quickly. I believe paint technology has come a long way, and that fading shouldn't be an issue. Is the Ruf Yellow Bird painted speed yellow? If not, what is the color. I am really leaning to Speed Yellow.

Reasons for SY:
1. Porsche color
2. Bright, but not too bright (orange, mexico blue, Fly Yellow, seem too bright)
3. Unique for a 930 (few painted a shad of yellow)

Black on black - the best for turbo look. Red is for Ferraris; green for Jags. Save the blue for old Chevys. My 2 cents.

That painter the Karroserie uses is really good so whatever you choose will look awesome. I think that dark teal metallic would look cool.

You went with a turbo look because you wanted the car to look EVIL right?

Well think of the most evil color of all - BLACK!

Looks great at night and looks great in the day (when clean)

Since your young, you probably have time to keep it spotless so do the right thing and go BLACK.

( However, that Tangerine colored 964 on the first page looks damn nice)

I wanted to have a different color than a typical 911-color. I wanted the color to represent the uniqueness and the time + $$$ that the project needed.

For reference, in my town of about 20-25k people, there are about 7 911's that I know about. 5 of the 7 are black, 1 is silver, and 1 is green (my targa). I didn't want to blend into the crowd. I do agree that black 930's look mean as hell, but it just isn't right for this car.
