In answer to questions,

SalazarS2K, still hooking up all gauges, will advise when complete, bought a second hand wiring loom for gauges to link to new system, hope it will work??

Firewall has been cut away for easy access to motor but a new panel with quick clips to remove easy will be fitted, sure noise will be louder but cool.

tom1934racing At this stage I cannot wait to hear the car start and drive it. Unfirtunately in 2004 I had a bad accident in my M3 which has left me unable to drive again YET. I am doing 5 hours rehab a day and plan to enter the car in a race here in SA in April called the Fireball from Johannesburg to Cape Town, I will be the passenger and navigator.
Building and finishing the car is my inspiration and determination to defy odds and drive again, thus far things are going to plan and looking good.

I am a stuborn bastard and do not let much get in the way of what I want to acheive.

Is it just me or do I get far more excited by the inprogress shots than the finished vehicle.

you should showcase your project for permanent posterity, the vehicle is a testament to the quality of the work, keep that work in the spotlight not just the car.

What did you prep and paint the arches with from the metal out?

According to my body shop specialist he used standard bonding paste used to join fibreglass called "ultrabond 52pa" made by NCS here in South-Africa. He roughned the surfaces up first and when joining to metal cut a zigzag pattern to create a greater surface area. Standard body filler was then used to smooth off the surfaces.

Then painted with normal undercoat and top coat

sorry, my fault for not being clear, the inner arches which you have in black. The metal work is very clear through whatever you have sealed/painted with. I just wondered what it was.

Re: fuel cap. That is an aircraft fuel cap. Never seen one on a bike, but they would be easy to fit. Should be easy to procure from any acft salvage yard.

Fl Ted, definately a bike cap look earlier in the thread and you will see the tank we cut it out from.

Jonny B: Yeah,I saw that, and it may have been on that tank from the factory, or maybe someone installed it later. Either way it's still and aircraft fuel cap TYPE, and I only mention this because some posters stated they thought it was cool, and I thought they might like to know where they could get one.

A lot of bikes here in SA come standard from the factory with this type of fuel cap, I just like the look so decided to use it.

Great project....

Allow me to be forward and suggest two things:

1.) Get the WEVO engine/ trans mounts in lieu of solid mounts. You will thank me later...especially if you're to run PMO carbs with solid engine mounts. For confirmation, ask the nice folks at PMO what they think.

2.) If you're running heim-joint ( rose-end joint...whatever you call them over there) for the ERP suspension bits and such.... try getting these joint booties....good for longevity -->

Ducati uses that gas cap, but that automatically means you could find it somewhere else for half of what they charge.
