Broken front hubs?
I just turned down my front hubs to allow the use of the 993 front rotor and now I'm reading where I shouldn't have done this. Did a search for broken and/or cracked hubs and found no pictures or threads even. Where do they break and is .120 off the od going to really matter? I thought this was a great idea to use the 993 rotor and caliper as a package and keep things simple. Also is there a clearance problem with this on the strut mount area? Seems the caliper is awfully close to hitting the mounts on the strut. Is this right? Thanx, Duke

I dunno, never did that myself
I do know that the 911 hubs are none too strong. Looks like you might be a test mule for this. I like the 2 piece rotors because they are lighter and handle heat better than one piece rotors of the same size

Duke,
I'm getting ready to do a 993 caliper up grade on my 75 911,for cost reasons I was considering turning the hub down like you did and using 993 front rotors. Have you made any further progress with your upgrade ? How did the 993 front rotors end up working out ? Any and all comments will be appreciated.

Gary, I haven't finished this yet. We are working on the adapters and I'm still working on my tub, may be a month or two til I'm ready to mount everything. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Duke,
Does it look like the "standard" adapter that a few different places sell for the 993 calipers will work with the 993 rotors ? Or is the placement different and custom adapters need to be made ?

Gary, I guess I can't answer your question right now. The boys atr the shop are working on the adapters for me. When they are finished I'll compare mine to the specs on here. I think Bill V. posted them somewhere.

I'm getting anxious to get started and I want to buy the right parts the first time, I either have or know what to get except for the front rotors.
I sure wish I could justify the additional cost for the factory 78-80 front floaters...
