Our host doesn't carry panels, looking at a 911 that needs a whole new FRONTEND
I am considering buying a 1968 or possibly its a 69 911. Its been wrecked in the front. I need basically a whole new front end. Now this is a short wheelbase right? And that is the front end that dictates that right? So could I weld a whole new front from another Porsche in? Where can I buy new patch panels? Can a later 1970-73 front be used for the long hood?

Do a search on the internet. There are several people, both here and in the UK making replacement body panels.

Ok great, I just did a google search but I am not sure which are reputable. Any specific suggestions? Pelican has all the parts I need minus the windshield and sheetmetal. Any links or tips would be appreciated. Oh and I need all new left front suspension, where do I find that?

1968 was the last year for SWB. 1969 was he first year for LWB.
Some parts (doors forward) may be interchangeable as the difference in wheelbase was in the back of the car to the rear of the doors.

Your situation sounds like you need to buy a front-end clip from a junkyard or private party.
![]() In my particular "deal" I got the hood, fender and front end clip for $750 from a private party. |

Yeah I would love to find something like that, I would then have all the torsion stuff replaced too. However I do need new sheetmetal still.

Our host is supposed to be getting all of these panels soon, but until then try:
http://www.restoration-design.com/ They're pretty much the only place to have *everything*, but be prepared to wait a long time (several months perhaps) for your order to be filled. Post the VIN number and we can tell you what year it is and whether its a short or long wheelbase. '65-68 is SWB, '69-73 is LWB. The front clips (windshield forward like the picture above) from '65-73 should be interchangeable, but they will look slightly different. The '69-73 LWB cars have dual battery boxes in front, and slightly different looking fenders. Last edited by jkarolyi; 03-23-2006 at 08:59 AM.. |

I don't have the VIN yet but will have it soon. My body shop wants me to drop off the car with all the parts so he can do everything at once. I wish there was a place that kept all those Dansk panels in stock!

As Jay said, we are in the process of working with Dansk to get all of the available sheet metal up on the website. In the meantime, give our sales crew a call and let them know exactly what you need. We'll see if we can source it for you.

I have been looking for a drivers quarter panel for my 72 Targa and I came across several but here are a couple of places that seemed like they might be pretty good to deal with.

I would think you could find an intact tub from a parted car for the same price you would pay for a front end clip. You might still have to replace the front pan, but the labor involved would be nothing compared to a front clip.

Perhaps I need to find a rust free rolling tub. I don't think repairing this one is a good idea. We will see.

Guys,
Try 20th street auto in Phoenix. Got part of a front end for my '85 to '72 backdate at a very good price. If you guys are going to give up on repairing the rusty car, pls put it on Pelican in case someone else wants to save it. JoeA
