Project 993 part 7

No pics this time, but a major psychological hurdle was overcome today.

.. I hooked the battery up !!

OK, no big deal right??, Well, yes, those who have been there know what i mean because its the first time the car has had power on it since the accident. Do you realize what goes through your mind right before you touch the second cable to the battery post?? Keep in mind I dont have an engine in it yet, so i had to make sure no loose wires were touching anything, but more importantly,

Is there a short anywhere?? I did alot of wiring repairs in the front.

Is anything touching anything that shouldnt be..?

Was anything else damaged in the wreck and shorted that I dont know about..?

And the scariest,. Are the airbags gonna blow???

After i got over the initial pulse inducing jolt of the sound of the wipers screeching across the dry winshield..

Well, nothing bad happened!! I even got brave and checked all the lights, the sunroof, the electric tail, wipers, blower motor, windows,.. basically everything electrical..

Two things left to do before the motor.. bleed the brakes and clean the fuel system..

Yes, electricity applied to a rebuild for the first time can cause the pucker factor to kick in.

Now for the important stuff - what brand of turbos and what compression ratio are you using for the 993 to tt conversion?

Snake I must have missed something. What happened to your Viper Green RSR project?

JA - I put dibs on the car months ago when the first thread surfaced for this latest project. That's why I gotta keep chiming in so he doesn't get off track, HA!
......... 8.5:1 and a set of K16s will do just fine thankyouverymuch.

Fair enough Rarly...I guess I'll just jump over to front of the line for your car then (assuming you've got that R&P problem solved)!

I must say, Rattlsnak's projects are among the most exciting threads to follow...always something crazy going on there, and that's what makes the BBS go 'round. Can't wait to see the latest pics, and hear about the powerplant.

Just a freindly ribbing. I know a few folks who like building cars better than owning and driving them. Makes life interesting.
