Any VW Bug guys out there?

I've got a 69 Bug and was wondering if rims from a 74 4-lug 914 would fit on it.

Thanks-
Craig Backer

Long time ago

I think with the body style change from the classic old style ('67 and prior) to the newer style ('68 and on) also meant 5 to 4 lug change.

Not 100% sure, but that's how I remember it.....

Here's my last VW, a '63 single cab. Notice the Fuchs. It has the wide-five pattern but was adapted to wear the Fuchs. It now resides in B.C.

Wrenched on Vdubs and dreamed of 911s in my youth. Ain't going back, but I still love the hollow sound of that exhaust whistle. New beetles are an abomination - who'd want something that practical?

My wife loves her new Beetle. I keep trying to talk her into some 17 inch BRM wheels, give it a retro- drag bug look. Then I could drive it too......

Jim! Nice!!! Did you have it while in SC or was this in your CA days?

Yeah, I've owned several bugs in my earlier days of driving. I've owned a '74 Super, '68, '71 and lastly a '58. In a way, I miss them all, but I miss the '58 the most.

Mike

Brought it out from Newport Beach to SC. Not many people in the Southeast had ever seen one so it always drew a crowd. It's probably the only car I ever regret selling. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise how many Porsche folks are or were into VWs. While I was into Vettes I always had a VW around like a 64 21 window slide top, '57 oval, '66 with a 2165cc (scared me to death) and a '63 bug (first place at Bug Jam Nationals)

As stated above, the wheels will bolt on. However, the offset is not ideal for a Beetle (perfect for Ghias). Your tires will be inset further than stock, causing them to rub on turns. You will need to set your steering stops a little further out, increasing your turning circle.
A 10mm wheel spacer will help a lot, but you won't be able to use the stock wheel bolts if you do. longer studs and nuts will work, or you can search for some original VW 411 wheel bolts that are longer. Some early Golfs also use a longer M14 wheel bolt, but with a 17mm head instead of the normal 19mm hex the Beetle has.
