And the engine complete (that's Ben's muffler mounted to Bischoff HE's [with the flanges flipped] the tailpipes haven't been welded on yet until engine is installed. Auto Assoc went so far as to flowbench the muffler to determine proper cam selection. BTW- they say the muffler flows pretty well:












The G50 being rebuilt with custom gears, steel synchros, etc.

Just a taste of some of the awesome cars Auto Associates works on:








Air inlet screen welded on to HE's (AA fitted two electric fans that will suck air
through the HE's for cabin heat rather than big hoses running from engine fan)




Custom aluminum watershields barely visible (attached to decklid to keep water
out of the ITG filters...K&N watershields lose up to 20 hp on an engine like this,
so I wanted the ITG's)

Hi Doug, yes it will have heat. Instead of a big hose running from engine fan down to one HE & then a crossover pipe, Auto Associates plumbed two small inline electric fans that will suck air into the HE's (through those metal screens) and up into the car. It eliminates alot of cumbersome tubing that doesn't look good either.

Wow. You're doing some cool stuff on/to your car. I didn't see ANYWHERE where you skimped! When do you get to test drive it?

mpeastend: Awesome car!! Very very nice

tip on the twin plug distributor: Get a small section of flex tubing to go from the air outlet on the fan shroud to the inside of the distributor. 12 plug dizzies build up a lot of ozone inside the cap, and the extra air serves to disperse and cool it off

Tom '74 911- no it's still at Auto Associates & I haven't driven it yet. The motors been started but not dyno tuned yet. They are waiting for a warmer day to get the carb jets right.

Great project and thanks for sharing with all the photos. You are giving me some great ideas for my IROC clone. It is race ready at the moment, but not street legal. That would be a pretty rough ride and it was street legal not too long ago - would like to make is so again someday. Love your choice of color. Mexico Blue is the bomb! Mine is bright yellow, which I did not choose - yuk. Gonna maybe change that someday.

Thanks Scott...Mine is street legal, but barely. I made sure the chassis would be exempt from emmissions due to age but do your research as it varies wildly from state to state. The car is for 90% track use & 10% Sunday drives. Auto Associates is great to work with...they listened to what I wanted from the engine (maximum power for track w/nice hp/torque profile, driveability on street, decent idle, reliability), built it from there and geared the tranny to match the engine's profile. They chose cams based upon engine/carb & flowbench results of exhaust (bischoff HE's & Ben's muffler) to eliminate flatspots. I wanted 380 to 400 hp which they say I should be able to achieve (they just aren't sure due this being one of the first of MB911's mufflers they are using in this type of build). Only the dyno will tell for sure. I'll have to post specs on the engine later but cams are somewhere between GE80 & GE100 specs. 50mm PMO's, MSD6A1 twin ignition, GT3 crank, 964 case, solid rockers, RSR pistons & cylinders (the real ones that require all the extra machining), RSR specs on heads with porting and large valves (stainless) round out the major items. In order to get the hp & torque I wanted, compression is at 12.5:1, requiring 110 leaded (a decision I may come to regret as local sources for fuel are at $7.75/gal & rising!)
