Disconnecting fan...simple question

I want to isolate a sound I hear from the block and need to disconnect the main fan. Can someone tell me from where I disconnect it? Do I also have to disconnect the AC motor?

Thanks

The fan that cools the engine? The big one? You need to take of the belt.

by the way.....dont let the engine run long without a fan....or you will be hearing really bad noises of fried engine internals...for what it is worth
