I have been thinking about this set-up too. Could you use a t-fitting on the oil pressure sender unit? I'm not sure if it has enough flow, but it should have enough pressure!! or tap into a carrera oil tensioner line? Using the pan bolt seems like a pain, unless you tap the sump plate...

the oil feed is the easy part. You just t off of the oil pressure idiot light fitting. The drain is the semi hard thing!!!!!!! just really need the right parts
|
Could you tap back into one of the cam covers?
<this has been edited> Brad |
yes as you see in the one picture that is what we did. but making the conection is the hard part. it is a very short distance and a bunch of bends.
|
On mine, protomotive welded a spout to the valve cover, and there is a short section of high pressure rubber hose clamped on to make up for the alignment issues. You may wind up needing to do something like that to make up for the slight variances in alignment.
So Ben, for a 3.2 version of this, will you make a J-pipe adapter, or are you planning on the 3.2 people to have to buy SSI's? I tell you what, make it so the 3.2 people do not have to remove their HE's, and you'll sell these like hot cakes. Mine will be major surgery to remove. |

as for the j pipe. I need a car to eventually model off of here!!!!!! Anybody local??? |
I need some ideas from you folks as to what you would like to see for the wg tubing?? I just put the wastegate off shoot on there for functionality for now but I will redo this early next week to make it look nice.

if you make it point out like your two out muff, that'd be cool.
I have a bunch of -6 AN stuff but I bet your not using that? -4? |
Excellent Job Ben!!!
Can't wait to see your end results. Are there plans to add an intercooler setup down the road? And I am wondering for the 3.2 version, are we going to have to get a special chip made? You can put me on the very interested list to purchase. Have a nice weekend and more pics please! |
Where the hell is the intercooler!!! C'mon Ben you know you need an intercooler. Are you using alcohol or water injection??
j.p. Ps. Nice welds, who makes the muffler? |
Ben,
Looks good. I must say they I've spent countless hours on trying to figure out the best way to plumb fuel lines. Fittings are always the problem. Anyhow, When I started looking at adding turbo to my EFI 911 I had similar issues. In the end I found a great little fitting that fits on the turbo. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084411261.jpg |
You can see it in these pictures:

If you haven't already done so have a look at this CIS to EFI (Turbo) thread I had started a while back:

All my "theoretical" calculations showed that the 54-trim Garret compressor was the best choice which is what I think you have.
The "on-center" exhaust housing isn't the best and is really an aerodynamic compromise for tight fits. I didn't go with the on-center housing. Instead I went with the more conventional "tangential" housing. |

Jerry without doubt the tail pipes will be in stock location. The question I pose is the Wg piping. what would you folks like to see??? Mostly just visually impressive is my question.. Tony did you get yours up and running?? do you have any downloads I can use for my megasquirt??? I lost most of my data I had saved with a recent computer crash. I will use the wideband to fine tune but I wanted to have a good starting point. Oh and yes intercoolers will come soon enough but remeber with low boost you will recieve demishing returns with an intercooler.. it when you start rising the boost levels that it is more important as there is loss in pressure with any bloackage (e.g. IC) I am going to shorten the muffler by about 3 inches so I can fit the 3 inch tail pipe in there (think tennis ball). The WG will also exit in 3 inch. I have my work cut out for me if it is going to be running monday evening. I am leaving in the morning until sunday evening |

Btw-wouldn't it be easier to work on that car if you had a lift? Dohh!;) |
oh man the lift is there just full of muffler boxes and muffler parts along with some other junk.. bring the carrera over we can turbo that

I like the fact that you chose to hook up to SSI's. Your system should spool up much quicker than a factory exhaust system. I can see that your work is high quality, like your other products. Keep up the good work! |

If your not already doing so you should upgrade to MSnS-Extra software. This will give you a 12x12 VE table that you will need with the Turbo. It also has rev limit and boost limit cutout features which is just what you will need. Cheers, |
