I agree. Most people should have spent a little more than they want to spend and they could get some real clean cars.
I got my '89 Cab and it is a pleasure every time I get into it. No trouble. Just some expenses for some fun engine bling bling (powdercoating, plus a SW chip). Tons of money pits out there and they can really sour the experience. I love it when we see threads for some of the rich boys that build cars from the ground up, when they can easily afford GT2 and GT3s. That is real Porsche purist ......

(24) Drive a 930 and you can't get rid of that "post-boost-smile" for days.
![]() I always see those rice things in my rear view mirror...they usually get smaller and smaller.

(Wierd analogy/ rant coming up, everyone roll their eyes)
Old 911's are like old Rolex watches. Old, used, crazy expensive for what their purpose is and expensive to fix. You could spend a lot less money to keep time or get to work. Precision and durability, they were made to last. Almost every other automobile - other than some trucks - are designed to wear out. How many cars even exist in America from the year your Porsche was made? What other 70's or 80's car could you realistically use as a daily driver? How many millions of Vega's, Pinto's and Chevette's were there? All gone, good riddance. Wiped from the Earth 5 years after they were made. We are not nostalgic about cars from the mid 1970's on. With few exceptions, 911's being one of them. So, take an incredibly durable car. Add "fast" and "sports car". Then add to that the precision of the 911 driving experience. A durable sports car that people (car guys) will prefer to drive, daily, over newer cars 30 years after they were built. Just a car guy thing

Well, Hot dog!
there is something else I learned from this forum. 24) lowering the front end of an SC is probably the easiest thing I have ever done to a car! Yeah, I dropped the front today, might be to low. 25 inches with a 1/4 tank of gas...hey it's a start! |

Don't worry, you could have bought a 'good one' at a high price & still have to dump a load of money into it to fix things. It's not a great feeling - really. But as others have said, once the key is turned & you hit your favourite bit of road, all is forgiven.

Yes, delete that air conditioner.
Hot days + 7/11 slurpee = Cool ride (WARNING If icecream headache occurs, limit sips, should last only about 5 seconds)

RFR, same here. Own the car for prox. 1 year or so. Near LA. DIY most of the works if possible. The day I got the car home, I tried to sleep early so that I can wake up early to sit in front of the car while enjoying my morning coffee. Same day, I took the car out for a long drive.
I think you should spend the money to get it going. If not, sell it. Don't let your "money" sit there for nothing.

yeah, i got my 73 911t targa in april. i have been fixing it up slowly over the past few months.
getting close now, i sent my calipers off to be rebuilt, they should be back on sat. then it should be drivable. i love the car so far. it sits on jack stands in my garage, working on it over the past few months has been threrapy from breaking up with my fiance. her taking our son and having to fight her in court. the 911 has been there for me. it has kept my mind occupied, i think that is what these cars do for a lot of people. they are works of art that go really fast and look cool as hell. they occupy our minds and we love them. it is our escape from the troubles of our daily lives. driving them is a break from the **** we are going through. we need them, a lot of people do not understand. they drive their suv's mindlessly through the day. 911 drivers think, dream and enjoy our conciousness. i will be out there with you soon. look for the silver 911t with the tinted windows. peace lyon
