emissions test following top-end r/b

I recently had a top-end done on my 81SC which is stock with the O2 sensor still there and functioning.

My car historically has passed emissions in multiple states but I am wondering if I should 'wait' after my recent top-end to have the emissions tested.

I have heard comments like 'i wouldnt take it right away' and Adrian streather mentions something about it in his book but doesnt elaborate.

so question: Is it good/is there an effect of getting the motor nice and broken in for taking thru emissions tests once youve had a rebuild or does it not matter? If so, any opinions on how much mileage is a good buffer?

thanks in advance.

You could always have a pre-test.
