Need Help, A/C Thermostat Control

My probe that goes in to the condenser broke. I need to find the whole switch from the control all the way to the probe at the codenser. Part # 911 613 121 00. Is this part hard to find? Is it expensive? Any tips on the installation?

It sure looks like it will not be fun to install and the tube that goes to the "smugglers trunk" cannot be kinked or it will nt work right.

Pls let us know how it goes... I may have to do one as well!

Took me an about an hour to change out in my 77 930.

I paid about $65 each locally for the TWO I bought. I broke the first one trying to get it to fit the console. We actually ordered several and they were all the same size requiring some modification to the console to make it fit. It works great now that it is in.

The original size switch - at least for a Carrera is NLA. The part that is currently available from our host will require some modification of the console to allow it to fit. I also tried sourcing a replacement part through several local Automotive AC suppliers but they could not find an equivalent in any of their parts catalogs. In the end I was able to refurb the switch by simply cleaning the contacts. If the capillary tube is broken or damaged though, that won't be an option.

Actual removal and replacement of the switch wasn't really that difficult just kind of tedious & a bit ergonomically challenging. Its probably easiest to remove the grommet from the firewall to thread the tube back through and reinsert the grommet/tube together than trying to thread it through with the grommet in place.

Just did this a couple of weeks ago. Sterted with the part from our host, which would not fit in the consloe of my '88 without doing some cutting. Returned that and got one from Griffiths, which is smaller and will fit. It IS a major PIA to replace, but Griffiths provides great instructions..

First off, the probe does not go into the CONDENSER. The probe is located in the EVAPORATOR coil.

Hopefully he figured that out by now, 9 years is a long time to try and install it the wrong way.

He was just a GUEST. Guess he got rid of the PORSCHE because the AC didn't work. Only reason why I brought my PORSCHE was because I wanted a sportscar with AC. LOL
