WEVO Sway Bar Bracket Install mod

I wrecked my stock sway bar bracked with my lift arm so WEVO was the logical fix. Welding was done at a respected Porsche shop on the south shore of Long Island. I've spent a lot of time looking at the beauty of tuna tower welds and the shop's WEVO welding pleased me. It's not the simplest install but the job turned out with the sway bar bushing square with not offset to cause friction on the bar bushing.

The 1st pic is with the WEVO painted flat black




The stock bushing brachet allowed to much play for the bushing to be mounted. I'm not sure if another bracket is available but the car has to be rolling very soon for a ride to Dragon's Tail so a stock bushing bracked tweak was called for.

This is the stock unmodified bushing bracket.




The actual depth of the stock bracket was too large so the bolt holes had to be die grinded. This allowed a baby sledge and a dull chisel to shape it around a socket similar to the bushing diameter. The bracked was slammed when mounted.

Finished and ready






The long end of the bushing bracket was mounted to the rear. Excuse the never seize on the ss bolt and bushing grease.




My bro has an '88 that has had the main bracket break more than once. He's buying the WEVO in advance. If his car goes in for a tune-up before the stock style breaks he'll do the WEVO to get the bs over with. Kinda like having a dash light fuse and relays for the headlights.

I don't know if Pelican Parts has a modified bushing bracket. They did have the WEVO readily available.

Yep those are one of those things that are on my list for the '73. Sure I could do all sorts of welding and bracing but those parts just look beefy!

Ron, the bolt spacing was changed in 78. Earlier cars like yours have narrow bolt spacing. The wevo mount is built to the 78+ spacing.

Matching 78+ brackets with the correct spacing are readily available and not too expensive.

Chuck is correct they are different for the 78-89 models. I think they are like $5.00 each or close to it, and they have a very durable black finish. That with new bushings may make a nice job into a perfect one. We all know how much you like perfection. Maybe this info will help. Pelican sells them. I bought a set 2-3 years ago for my 82` sc.
