CIS mixture adjust screw question

I know what to do, just can't seem to find the "hole".

I have the hole already to access the screw, however when I "prod" around in there with my 3mm hexhead wrench, I can't seem to "connect" with the screw, at least not definitively. Is it a straight shot down, or off to the side, angled? Any assistance is appreciated.

straight down. the allen hole can get filled with dirt, so ream it out with a stiff piece of wire or something like that.

u have to use a long allen, not one of the short ones

Your allen wrench should be about 4 inches long. I did this to lean out for emissions. If yu need a picture I 'll take one for you.

No pun intended,, but at best this is one of the hardest holes to get into.
So without being able to see anything how are you going to take a photo. Unless you have your engine out of the car.

I had the same problem and found out later that the previous owner's mechanic put a drop of locktite on the screw and gunked it up. I had to use a dental pick and patience to clean out the hole.

BUT, here is the easiest solution for starters.

You need to take off the air filter and hold up the sensor plate (support the plate bar not the plate!) while you try to get the allen wrench to stick in the screw. With some downward pressure you might be able to get the allen in deep enough to make your adjustment.

I am using the same procedure now everytime I have to make an adjustment.

Should work okay.
