Weird that the thread was going strong until early 2008, then poof.... I'm looking to possibly do a similar RSR longhood build with a 964 (no where NEAR the detail) so the more I see the better!

The owner may eventually chime in, but the car was beautifully completed and AFAIK is driven regularly.

My opinion is that the biggest problem we have in this forum is that the person who starts a build thread or fix thread doesn't finish it. I have followd this thread also until I realized that no was going to finish it.

There was also a nice write up on the finished project in Excellence Magazine. I'll see if I can find the issue.

I have it. That is on Air Cooled Classic's 964 C4 conversion, not this car.
Good article though!

I thought you were looking for the subject car of this thread. I pretty sure that is the 3.9 that I'm familiar with.

Nope.. this is "Zuffenhaus C2 to '72 RSR project", a 964 C2 backdate to a wide body longnose. The 3.9 project is another thread. I do appreciate your trying to help though!

Wow. You guys are on point.

I was telling GaryR in a PM that the 964 is currently in queue for e-coating. We have to send several unibodies at a time to enjoy the economy of scale on pricing for you guys!

(and, to be perfectly honest, developing products takes up a lot of time as well! - no need to tell that to you guys that have been waiting patiently for our RSR Brake Calipers and rotor hats!!!)

In any event, after e-coat, as reassembly begins, there will be literally a FLURRY of posts on this thread. And you'd better believe that we don't close a build thread until a magazine article is written!

I am a little dissapointed that after so many pages, it isn't clear which shop it is...

so, don't worry gsmith660 - I don't drop my threads. They're written as much for my entertainment as everyone elses, and I have that Gestalt condition...

Damien Hirst residency at Zuffenhaus?

Zuffenhaus Racing & Fabrication, 964/'73RSR Project, WIP.

Damien Hirst, The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, 1991.

Eerie coincidence. I guess you don't make art in a vacuum, after all (- of course this is a craft, not an art)

Progress, nonetheless!

Keith,

Did I miss something? Is the 'cage' for transport/handling of the tub for the e-coating?

Care to share your impressions of the whole e-coating process?
