I realized that about your pic, but can't a dual caliper setup work well sometimes? I know that for moderate track 911s caliper piston pressure is far from the limiting factor, but what about the 956s or 962s that had dual calipers?

Anyway I guess there was something about the picture that made the rotors look odd. It appears that they are the 951 352 041 91 rotors & Hopefully the smaller caliper in my picture above. There are several versions of the small caliper, 993 rear 30/34 version is best for that app.

Makes sense in my experience, but I wonder why (some?) 956es had dual calipers? I think they had moved away from it by the 962. I tried to find a photo of the dual caliper setup but didn't have luck.

There were some experiments, decades ago like this 908
![]() But again unsuccesfull from a packaging(they are hard to find room to mount) and thermal management perspective Some cars use a separate caliper for parking brake, like Carrera GT ![]() But a line lock for the existing caliper is easier and lighter.

Maybe not... the are called "Twin sliding Calipers" and it's the CL65 AMG...
"With their filigree spokes, they offer tantalising views of a brake system, the like of which is not to be found in any other manufacturer's products. The system in question is the AMG high-performance brake system which sets new standards for stopping power, sensitivity and resistance to fading. I'm thinking of a genuine dual caliper setup like that, I would have sworn that they used them some on the 956, but I could be mistaken. In any case, the setup was not successful enough to become popular! Thanks for the info Bill, always interesting to hear from you about brakes

Yawn... and old thread awakens.
![]() Becker never got back to me. After a series of emails and a few phone calls I give up.... The older Becker maps on CD will copy but the format is wrong. Navteq does the maps for Europe and the US. http://www.navteq.com/ I have not found the right person at Navteq to copy the maps to a CF card in the correct format. If Navteq is listening perfectly happy to pay. ![]() As far as the non-audio portion of the build, after an extended pause, car should be off to e-coat soon. Hopefully some updates soon from Keith.
