Porsche Crest yet another "It won't start" thread.. my 1982 911SC and help needed.

Esteemed gruppe!!

My old Permafail was going in/out intermittently and was confirmed by swapping out with a good one.

I decided to go with an MSD 6A for ease of installation and after reading tons of "no spark/start" threads.

I changed the green wire since it was cracked and frayed. I also changed cap/rotor with spark plugs since it was due.

All was good with the world after I changed the system out to MSD. It cranked up fine and I drove it down to the gas station for a fill up.

I got back home and proceeded to wrap the rest of the wires with electrical tape.

This is where the problems started. It will NOT crank now.

What would cause a no start symptoms when I began to zip up the wires into the loom???

Thanks,

Alex

Check the yellow wire in the loom. I believe this is the signal wire from the key to the starter solenoid.

A loose conection? A short induced by the movement(this happened to me; car drove fine for 8 miles stop start red lights etc. then I come to a light, and poof, no more magic smoke, just died) I shorted my pertronix out.

That's where I'm headed. Did you ever find out where your loose connection was?

I'm also checking the yellow wire that Nostril cheese suggested.

I was actually a small spot of bare wire right as it goes into the spade connector. Use heat shrink on all joints!

Check all your fuses to see if one blew.
