Sorry to hear that, but it looks good so far though. And the Swedish summer will be long this year

Absolutely inspiring.

Can you share some details on the steering rack cleanup? Was it good ol' elbow grease? Does the mechanism feel any smoother after the cleanup? Was it tough to remove?

I know Peter, but this has turned in to a real "while you are in there" project, and the bank account is not big enough. I have the time to get it all done, but not the cash. The petrol tank was really bad - I managed to poke my finger through the bottom of the tank Glad I found that rust whilst the tank was empty and the car was in the garage and not on the track!!! The petrol pump was dead as well. i am moving as fast as i can on the car, but with so much upgrades and replacements on the front, I will probably have to deal with the back suspension as well before i can take the car out on the road again.
If I manage to get the car done before next summer I will be happy - and if you still have the stuff, I might trade some beer for a corner balance with you

berettafan, the steering rack reconditioning was not bad at all, just lots of elbow grease and cleaning time. The difficult part was locating the replacement bearings. I found them in the end from a supplier in the UK. let me know if you are going to do the job, and I am happy to help you via email...

Rust holes in the gas tank, that's really scary! I am very familiar with the feeling of "So many projects and too little doe"...

Hopefully I'll be heading to Stockholm in a couple of weeks to assemble my car, corner balance it and get the wheels pointing in the right direction. I just got myself one of these; very practical when adjusting camber.

/Peter

Yes, it was really scary. I thought it was surface rust, so used my finger to try and brush some of it away, only to have my finger go all the way in. Have no idea how the fuel did not run out during last summer!?!

Interesting tool - you will have to assist me when i am done in setting up my suspension

Oh, and some more progress from today (worked from home, so used my lunch time to do some more work on the car ), nice rebuilt and painted 944Turbo caliper. Will do the other one next week, as I am off travelling rest of the week...

Looking good Pål!
Good write-up too. Fuel tank problem you had sounds scary indeed...
Good luck with your project.

Hi there Pelican friends, thought it was time to post an update on my slow progress. At the moment I am getting slowed down by lack of funds and a need to spend some time with my family as well
