I need your help

Hi guys.
I find myself in an unusual place. I am generally giving advise and now i need some help.
A friend is looking at a 2000 Porsche cab with 71 k and he's asking me what I think of this model.
Can I get some impressions of these cars.

Hi Henry,
I am not sure I can be much help but can only suggest you post a question in the 996 forum. As I understand it, some of the early 996's had rear main seal oil issues, but with those miles on it, that should have manifested already and been addressed.

As mentioned 996 have had a problem w/ rear main seals, they have tried multiple fixes over the years. I hope, but have no confidence, that that they have solved the issue.

I have owned a 1983 SC and a 1972T. Each one had their own quirks and driving points.

I have recently purchased a 2003 996 cab.

(I'm not looking to be flamed but just providing input.)

If your friend is looking for that "raw man car feeling" ""one with the road" he will not be happy with the 996. Don't take me wrong the 996 is planted, fast, and a blast to drive; but refined.

Comparing the two vehicle is comparing apples and oranges. My suggestion is have your friend drive as many Porsches as possible to decide what it is he is looking for in an automobile.

The issue of the RMS leaking appears to be mostly in the 3.4 liter engines. That being said, I could not find someone in my area that actually had this problem. We hear about it but no first hand testimonials. Draw your own conclusions.
