964 decklid install - would like to test motor first
Before I begin the process of installing my 964 decklid on my SC, I wanted to test the motor. I already ordered the recommended part from Autoloc for controlling the spoiler part.
My question is, with the decklid disassembled for painting, can someone tell me which wires I can put to 12v to see if the motor is working? I'd like to see if the motor works before trying to wire in the autoloc & manual switch. Any help would be great!

I have that as well but was unsure how to just apply power to the green/yellowgreen and the blue/bluegreen. From the instructions I am not sure which is positive and which is negative.

It shouldn't matter. Just hook up the wires to 12V test battery and if the spoiler doesn't move in the direction you want it to, reverse your connections on the battery?

I had this setup but sold it before installing. I *think* that wiring it one way raises and the other way lowers.

I guess I need to see if I can look up a 964 wiring diagram or just wait until my switch comes in. It's not going back together as fast as I thought and I probably have some time.

There are 2 wires into the tail motor - the green with yellow/green stripe, and the blue with blue/green stripe. The motor will rotate either way. If you hook it up with the +/- one way, it will raise the tail, the other way will lower the tail. Assuming it's lowered, just make a quick connection and if it raises, great. Then switch coinnections to lower. But if the motor strains the first way, just switch the connections. You won't hurt anything by straining the motor for a second.

The wiring instructions are for a window switch. Would any two way momentary switch work? http://www.action-electronics.com/pdf/gcswsec.pdf
I bought the 35-018 (on) off (on) dual throw. I picked up a small microswitch at is intended for 120 AC. The only difference I can see is it would not ground. It could supply 12v to the brown & white wire, I just do not see how it would ground or if it would need to. Thoughts?

Any momentary switch will work. This particular one I listed on this thread works great fine.
Positive or negative can be applied to either wire to the motor, just reverses the motor.

Has anyone attempted this type of mod with a 2002 spoiler, on an earlier car like an SC or Carrera)? Just curious if the 964 lid is the only option on this. I think Jack Olsen said the 993 lids do not work. I am mainly talking about the spoiler itself being used in a modified stock lid. Are they too different to be comaptible at all? Sorry if this is an obvious answer - I do not know but know where I can pick up a 2002 spoiler with the motor et al for a decent price...
