Yes, you can subscribe by clicking on the Thread Tools dropdown box and click on the subscribe thread option. Follow the directions from there. I believe the next screen is a confirmation screen.

Sorry for the somewhat OT. I'm subscribed because I think it's cool that you're trying something new.

I thought about the heat under the "trunk" and I am planning on sealing everything off that remains open, but I am going to utilize the center vents for fresh air, and heat for the winter. I'm planning on drawing hot air from the radiator shroud and feeding it to the vents. Then I will use a valve operated by a lever (maybe the factory heater valves and levers) inside the car so I can open and close off the hot air supply. I might use the stock blower motor, but I'm not sure I want the extra weight.

As far as venting the hot air through the hood. Yeah, I thought about that, and I may do that in the future in conjunction with a fiberglass hood and a fuel fill through the hood, but for now, I want to design a kit that is user friendly and can be installed by a to-it-yourselfer in their garage with no welding, or special tools. I also want to make a kit that doesn't require any permenant modification to the chassis, other than the hole cut in the nose for air intake for the radiator (which is a similar cut that people do when adding a front mount oil cooler)

kcpaz,
You do good work, my friend. That appears to be a very sanitary install. Keep us updated. I like it.

Thanks guys. I spent some time this weekend making some templates for the fuel tank. I'm still trying to decide if I want to try and utilize the stock fuel filler, or go with a thru-the-hood motorcycle style filler. I'm leaning towards the thru-the-hood approach because I can get more fuel capacity that way, and it will give me an excuse to buy a fiberglass hood (and save some weight).
I also spent some time on the engine wiring harness. I know it may not look like much, but I have over 20 hours into making it look like this. Obviously it wouldn't take me that long to do it again because I learned a lot from the research I did on the first one. This harness is basically ready to plug into the ECM and engine sub-harness (that harness is actually installed onto the engine itself before the engine is installed into the chassis). This is an OBD1 system and I was able to retain the diagnostic terminals and plugs so the OBD system should be operational with a check engine light in the dash. Something the stock CIS system NEVER offered.

Encore, encore. Well done fab work, can't wait to see/hear the finished project. Puritity? Porsche's, and all cars, started as bastards and will always be bastards.

My 911 has so many non-stock non-Pcar made pieces on it, it is stupid.

bashing going on on the V8 conversion threads, I have been scared to post about my project. Thanks for the kind words guys.[/QUOTE]

V8s deserve some bashing in my book. WHat you are doing is replacing a boxer motor with an updated boxer motor. I've thought about what you are doing ever since I dropped 8 grand on a top end rebuild. WHat if I put it into a WRX turbo motor with whatever mods needed? I have no clue, but I bet it would beat any standard 911 out there.
Kudos

Yeah, I heard that trip was an adventure I'm kinda glad I didn't go. Cool cars? Yeah, but 16 hours of driving in one weekend, no thanks.

Yeah, when that (certain someone) sees the car for the first time, I want to have a camera on hand so we can capture that golden moment.

Anyway, I'm hoping on having the car up and running no later than December, but hopefully by November. I can't wait. Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping at night because my mind is racing about what I need to do next to get it done. If everything goes right, I'm planning a road trip to Monterey in January. Fingers crossed.

Awesome!! I'm a purist! At least that is what the locals call me. This engine just looks good. It's a flat six and sounds great with more power and more top end possibilities. Awesome Work! I'm looking for a roller

Wow... I want Subarubu prices when my 2.7 goes!

Okay, are you willing to document everything and sell it as a package with help finding all the parts and pieces?

yeah, I plan on making conversion kits available if there is enough interest. Everything is being well documented and fixtures will be made after everything has been track tested.

If you are reading this thread and think you might be SERIOUSLY interested, please shoot me a PM so I can kinda start getting an idea of how many serious inquiries there are on this forum. I haven't formally advertised this yet, but I would like to gauge interest.

Here are some pictures of the fuel tank. I still need to weld in the 90 degree bend to connect the tank to the factory fuel filler, and weld in the fittings for the feed, return, and vent. That's all easy stuff though. The plate on top of the tank will house the factory VDO sender and allow access to the inside of the tank so I can add foam later down the road. I'll probably put the vent fitting on the same plate. The big hole in the plate is for the sending unit.

I measured the capacity of the tank and it came out to exactly 10 gallons. Not the 13 I was shooting for, but it should still be good for 250 miles of highway driving.
