Spark plug gap question
Hello
Changing the plugs yesterday, I noticed that the manual specifies plug gap of 0.024. The WR5DC+ plugs (recommended by PP and others) have a gap of ~0.032. I assume this is acceptable or that a note to re-gap plugs before installation would be made somewhere... Stock 2.2t engine with bosch distributor/crane ignition, if that helps. One of the old NGKs I pulled out had a badly cracked insulator. Yikes.

I would use the factory spark plug gap specs unless your car has an MSD box instead of the factory CDI box.

.028 - .032 should do you fine, NGK BP6ES or BP7ES depending on your operating conditions.

Mine are supposed to be .028, I have them at .035" and love it. No more gas smell at idle and no little backfires when letting off the gas.

With an upgrade to an HEI distributor cap/ ignition cables, my 86 3.2 has no problem firing a 0.060" gap.

That's right. An HEI Jeep Cerokee cap and rotor.
I have to admit that it's probably the most reliable ignition upgrade that I have ever had on my 911. Seems like I never have to worry about ignition issues ever again even after degreasing/hosing it off, it never skips a beat. So your using the coil pac built into the cap?
I did this method on my 87 Wangler using a GM HEI. Sounds like a nice upgrade for the Porsche.
