CDI box rebuilder
Does anyone reliable repair the 3 pin CDI boxes that Bosch made for the early 911 cars? The box I have makes the proper whining noise when you turn the key on, but the car does not start. Another box, car runs fine.

Rick,
All REAL Porsches use Kettering ignition. ![]() Anyway, I don't think Pelican offers this service anymore, try OTTO in Venice http://www.ottosvenice.com/ or Loren at www.systemsc.com, don't mention ignition advance. ![]() Weird that the box whines, that tells you the inverter is working but if she don't spark, she don't spark.

I just always have a 3 pin cd box around to check no start problems. If no spark at the plugs, then plug in a known good box. If it runs, then your done. Please tell me about the Kettering ignition.

Rick, LOL, Kettering ignition is the original battery-points-condenser-coil ignition invented by Charles Kettering in 1909. It's the system used in all pre-1969 Porsches and detailed extensively by Yours Truly in this thread:
Before there was BHKZ: SWB engine electrics
