CDI box rebuilder

Does anyone reliable repair the 3 pin CDI boxes that Bosch made for the early 911 cars? The box I have makes the proper whining noise when you turn the key on, but the car does not start. Another box, car runs fine.

Rick,

All REAL Porsches use Kettering ignition.

Anyway, I don't think Pelican offers this service anymore, try OTTO in Venice http://www.ottosvenice.com/ or Loren at www.systemsc.com, don't mention ignition advance.

Weird that the box whines, that tells you the inverter is working but if she don't spark, she don't spark.

I just always have a 3 pin cd box around to check no start problems. If no spark at the plugs, then plug in a known good box. If it runs, then your done. Please tell me about the Kettering ignition.

Rick, LOL, Kettering ignition is the original battery-points-condenser-coil ignition invented by Charles Kettering in 1909. It's the system used in all pre-1969 Porsches and detailed extensively by Yours Truly in this thread:

Before there was BHKZ: SWB engine electrics
