We had to modify the under-the-hood skeleton and flange the opening so that it sat flat, correct.

And ask as many questions as you need to. That is the reason for this forum and for sharing this thread.

Decided to use the 965 gasket... Bottom front lip still not in place... just held in with some pliers for the photo...

noavgdrvr 02-24-2013 03:47 PM

Sure, here you go: 965-505-143-01 Remember, this is for a wide body conversion. Same as what the 965 (1994 911 Turbo) uses.

The same gasket but for a narrow body is: 964-505-143-01

peter*g 02-25-2013 11:44 AM

Thanks. I have a widebody car as well, which is why I asked.

Ha! Well, yours has an engine, an interior, wheels, a wiring harness, and is actually drivable. I think I'd prefer to be in your shoes right about now. :)

Once the body is done then we have to drop the engine and tranny to clean it up, paint the engine bay, fix the crushed oil lines (using the pressured air method), change oil seals, injector boots, go over the brakes...

But I want to take it to the track for DEs... SmileWavy

Some photos from the fuel filler build...

What you can't see is that they're all autographed. The E46 is signed by Hans Stuck, Boris Said, Bill Auberlen, and Justin Marks from when they were racing that car in Speed WC GT. :-)

I'll take the one on the right with my Pinot please. :D

Gorgeous work. Not many go for the ducted flares like that and I think it looks perfect on this car.

stuttgart46 05-24-2013 10:09 AM

That's a great looking trio.
It's amazing how the RSR just steals the show.

Racerbvd 05-24-2013 12:43 PM

You coming to Zonefest??
I'm there.

wachuko 11-20-2013 01:59 PM

It has been awhile... I had to replace all the fuel lines due to age... fun task without removing the engine...

But we are finally ready to do the install of the side Carrera scripts... in the process of ordering a new set from No Bad Days Graphics...

I will get better photos soon... but it is great to see it back on the street again.

I got some graphics from Mike (No Bad Days) and was very happy with the quality and the whole transaction. This car you've built is BAD ASS! Love every detail. Can't imagine how much fun it is to drive it since I've never built one that far. Or even close. Thanks for the inspiration.

JeremyD 12-01-2013 03:03 AM

Got the graphics from Mike as well. He has been extremely helpful with all the mistakes that I have made. Can't thank him enough.

Felt good driving the car again...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psn7w2wdta.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps4hsqqqke.jpg

Also, finally installed the wiper arms...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psqovmrzyf.jpg

Still a few details to attend to for example, hood pins... for the life of me I can't remember where I put them... so got to get a new set. Need to find a rubber trim for between rear bumper and body. Need to drill the hole for the cigarette lighter (for phone charger). Need to completely detail the engine, clean the oil lines (those were painted and I want them back to their original, unpainted, color).

And after the work that I started doing on the 912... man... I have this itch to just redo ALL the hardware, brake calipers, torsion bars, etc.
