Thank you!

I think that the black details (Carrera script, black headlight trim, etc.) will give it that nice finishing touch...

Still waiting on the headliner before we can install all the glass...

Craig_D 09-23-2012 02:35 PM

Awesome looking build Wachuko!! What are you planning to do for suspension?

All sanding completed on the RSR...buffing is next. Headliner arrives on Monday so that will get installed that week. After that, all glass is installed back in the car.

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...t-of-three.jpg

Still need to install the wire mesh in the qtr panel cutouts and front fenders sides.

At that point, we put it on a trailer and take it back home to drop the engine and transmission (we did not have time to do it before, duh! ). And we will paint the engine bay the same color as the outside... just because :)

We will clean the engine, take out the CIS stuff to clean the lines, injectors and make sure there is no gunk for sitting so long. I will install a new fuel pump as well.

Interior is next. We have everything, just need to install the carpet, seats. Fire it up and take it for a test drive, woohooo...

wachuko 10-04-2012 08:26 PM

Headliner installed, car polished, Alejandro is now installing everything back... waiting for more photos

Thank you for the comments!! Can't believe the body work and paint are finally done!! I am flying back from SFO today and should be able to see the car tomorrow. Can't believe that the body work and paint are finally done!! The car should be completed (outside) today... I will take better photos on Saturday and share those as soon as I get home.

Looks killer!

wachuko 10-08-2012 05:11 AM

Well... car is not done. Probably has another week to go on the outside before I can take it home to finish the interior...

Weaved. That came off a Cadillac... but you can find them online 16"x36"

brock911 10-08-2012 06:46 AM

Wachuko, you are without a doubt my new HERO, what an incredible job. Having taken on a build of this magnitude is very impressive.

I hope you have many years of "DRIVE HARD, SMILE A LOT" moments, and when you tire of it and decide to do your 73RS project, call me and I will buy this car and bring it to where the northern pelicans roam.

Continued success,
Stay Well,
Mike

A few more from today. Alejandro is working on the sunroof, installing the bumpers with the rubber trim... Should really be done by Thursday of this week... still pending is the front spoiler lip, side mirrors, Carrera script (waiting a few weeks before installing that to let the paint cure some more), interior (everything)... I just want it home!!

Looking great Wachuko! To answer you about suspension recommendation, a really great guy to talk to is Chuck Moreland at Elephant Racing. He knows it all and can help you figure out a combo that meets your needs. He's also very helpful with setup and installation questions. For my 911SC hot rod, I wanted to sharpen everything up without making the ride harsh, so we did a combo or his sport rubber bushings all around, mono ball camber plate strut mounts, hollow torsion bars, raised and braced Bilstein struts with custom valving, low friction control arm mounts and other smaller items. He's a great guy and can work with any budget.

Keep on posting pics and good luck with all of your progress!

Cheers,

Craig_D

P.S. can you post some pics of your through-the-hood fuel filler set up? It looks wicked and I'd love to see how you did it. :)

Thank you! I do need to talk to him, they also have the front mounted oil coolers and I will need two kits from them (one for this project and another one for the RS project). Baby steps, baby steps... first get it home, finish the interior, get it running again (fuel pump and cleaning the fuel system)... then the rest :)

Still a few things pending: Side mirrors, front lip spoiler (in black), Carrerra graphics (in black, and sitting in the shelve waiting for the paint to cure a few more days before we do the install), side front fender grill inserts (he is doing that today), adjust the exhaust tips (but the rear bumper will need to be modified once we install the final muffler, so for now it will stay like that).

The plan is to bring it home today and finish the interior and clean the fuel lines to get the engine running again.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...truments-5.jpg

Looking good... all the gauges are working!!

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...truments-2.jpg

Let's install the steering wheel... and those da$#%^$% time people always forget to place everything back where I left it...missing one of the steering wheel botls (The Twilight Zone reference for those youngsters, lol...)

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...truments-1.jpg

Decided to go with a lower dash from Rennline. Should be here this week. Ordered the one in black.

wachuko 11-13-2012 09:18 AM

A few more photos from today. Keep in mind that we took the car from the shop to get it running again (done), and to install the interior (in progress).

The outside stills has work pending. Pending mirrors, fuel filler setup, wiper arms, mesh in side vent of front fenders, front lip spoiler, Carrera script, and those tapes you see are areas that need attention from the paint guy, need to finish fitting the headlights (electrical is done but I need to redo the brackets that holds them in place). So still a work in progress.

The plan is to finish the interior, finish fitting the headlights and then drive the car back to the shop for the stuff pending. Black trim for the headlights is done and I have them, forgot to put them on for the photos.

I need a decent tag frame and install the tag lights (or maybe find a tag frame with integrated lights).

Could not resist posting one before the work began...

Very much so!!! Just in case, the guy in the previous photos is not me... that is Angel who is part owner to this car. He got tired of seeing the car in the garage without any progress and got a guy to work it and paid for it... I was going to give the car to him and he decided to make it a split ownership deal, cool!

This is me:

On another note... Rennline lower dash is here! Came in today! Need to drill the holes for the headlights switch and decide what other switches will remain...
