OK, some folks are not going to want to read this, however I purchased a perfectly sorted CIS system last Monday. The system was installed today, and upon first start, it was perfect. Idle was perfect, warm up was perfect, driving was a xen like experience. I'll hit the dyno later this week and post the numbers. (looks like I'll have a complete EFI and LC1 system for sale.)

Scott,

Please don’t give up so easily. I understand your frustration but it can be solved. I’ll volunteer to help. I have a ’74 Targa with a CIS 3.0 installed. It runs great. Rumor has it that it is a 3.2.

I’m willing to let it be a ‘mule’ for your EFI if you are willing. Unfortunately someone has my Stuska engine dyno without my permission. You (or others) will need to test in the Targa.

I’m willing to have a group effort to get this right.

Best,
Grady

Glad you got it running but I'm wondering what size injectors you really had. Were they 42lb or no?

BTW, you might want to keep the LCI...those can be used on anything

Oh, I completely agree, the solution should not have been this simple. I did go to great lengths to source a perfect CIS system; all but one injector passed my flow bench test, and I replaced that from my parts stock. This is a night and day difference, I need to start it cold this morning to be sure that the AAR is working, but that's about it.

Grady, I was going to dyno this setup, then based on that I was going to either go back to EFI or sell the system outright. However given how things are running right now, I can't see myself going back to EFI. If you want to test the system it's still complete as I removed it, right down to the airbox, so it's a bolt on and go.

Niner, how do I integrate the LCI to the Lambda brain? I was going to get a standard Bosch two wire analog unit today to complete the trasition, since I can't seem to find my original. Will the Lambda brain understand the wideband sensor?

Scott, glad that you have the car running. I'm still learning about MS and yes it sometimes takes a lot of time to come up with a good map. I guess the secret is to mirror someone that has done a MSII conversion and then use their MSQ as a starting point. You might as well keep your MS stuff since they arent worth much used and you may find that you want to switch back at some point. Enjoy the car for now.

My turbo datsun was down for 4 or 5 months while I did a turbo motor swap with MSII so your issues are not unusual in the aftermarked EFI community. I will say the car runs great now using MSII for fuel and spark. Actually kind of fun to datalog and tune the car.

About the LC-1...innovate makes a tail pipe mount so I think so you can monitor your AFR's on just about any vehicle.

The LC-1 should have an analogue out (Analogue 1-yellow wire) that mimics your stock O2 sensor.

The LC-1 has two configurable analog outputs. By default Analog out #1 is configured to mimic a narrow-band O2-sensor (step function) and Analog out #2 is a linear voltage ramp betweeen 0.0 and 5.0 volts corresponding to 8 - 20 A/F ratio. Both outputs can be configured. When using the LC-1 it is very important that the translation from A/F ratio into a voltage is configured in the same way the controller (e.g. MS-II, analog gauge) expects the data. Otherwise you will have scale and bias errors.

Between meetings I went down to the garage and re-connected the CSV, ran out of time last night. Sure enough she kicked right over and ran like a top. I need to complete the O2 sensor after my next meeting and I'll post up some AF's.
