engine questions
On an impulse I bought a 3.2 motor recently. The engine number is 63E06074 witch I believe means its a 84 Euro motor.
I have no real history except what the seller told me. It was suppose to have been out of a 70k mile car that was wreaked. The original buyer was able to hear it run before it was pulled. It was going to go into a 914. Does this look like the factory sealant. It looks a little sloppy and I was wondering if the motor has been opened up in the past. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks.

Is that all the way down the case seam as well? It looks like RTV, and I didn't find any RTV on my engine during the teardown. You often times use locktite 574 on the case halves, however it drys to an darker orange color.

I'm honestly surprised that the case didn't leak. I would tear it down just based on what I see there, you don't know how many other mistakes were made.

I didn't think so. No leaks are visable and it doesn't look like it's been done recently.
I was just curious. Any suggestions on what I can do to check it out while its out.
