Installing air guide to alternator
Hi guys, Finished my polishing job on the fan & housing and now TRYING to reinstall. Any words of wisdom trying to get the air guide back on the alternator? I've done a search but have come up blank.

Attach thread to the nuts. So if you drop them you can retrieve them. Yank thread off afterwards.

Not quite sure what you mean Hugh. I have the 3 nuts off the alternator where the guide attaches to it. The problem is I can't get the two aligned to fit the guide onto the studs. It's like it came off an Impala or something. I'm not even close!!

Mark, if I recall, the air guide attaches on only three of the six bolts. Push the air guide back, re-attach the alternator wires then slide the air guide forward and secure with three nuts. Not really that difficult, just tight working quarters.

Thanks Mark, that's what I'm trying to do!!! lol, I can't seem to get everything level with one another to slide onto the studs. I guess just patiences. (wearing thin at this point). I'll go down again and try!!!

Mark, I guess I was referring to the tight quarters, but yeah you've got to keep moving it around until it fits. I did this about a month ago.

Sometimes the really long bolts that go through the alternator can get slightly bent when removing the alternator from the fan housing. In any case, you can "adjust" the fit ever-so-slightly with a soft-faced mallet to make your air guide fit better.
