Rear SC disks: should I machine them?
I am currently working my braking system on my 78 SC.
My rear rotors are 19.0 mm thick. The new thickness is 20.0 mm and the wear limit is 18.0 mm. So they are right in the middle of the range. Should I machine them (cheaper: my machinist does them for 10$ / rotor) or buy a new set (more expensive)? Thanks and happy new year.

If you want to save money, I would machine them. Specs are specs, if they are thicker, they are OK.

Why are you machining them? Are they grooved or greatly uneven?
Unless there is something wrong with them there is no reason to do anything. Slap some new pads on and go. If there is something wrong, then they will probably be out of spec by the time you're done anyway.

If they a warped they will warp again, likely very quickly, if you machine them.
If they are rough I would take light cut only. |

They are not wrapped but the surface is quite rough (ciruclar scores). I don't want to ruin a new set of pads on this rough rotor surface.

I would take a light cut and remove most of the roughness, they don't have to be perfect.
