Just to clarify, my switch is for manual camera activation, It othewise operates the same as yours with automatic activation when in reverse. Noticed a couple of rocker switches under your ash tray (the look like window switches) - what are those? Overall, very nice install.

Ha, you noticed, those are temporary window switches. I had a car with manual cranks, then decided that i cannot live with them so i installed electric motors and ran the window switches under the dash. I'm not looking for a perfection, its a temporary but does the job.

Hey Mark,

I attempted to tap my reverse light trigger (Grey/Brown Wire) in the engine bay but for some certain reason I can't get power to the camera. Tested it with a 9 volt source to make sure the camera works and got a picture on my receiver/display.

Did you tap with the black or red wire from the camera and where did you ground the remaining wire?

TIA,

Jim

Jim, it's been a while since I did the install. IIRC the trigger wire from LCD Screen harness runs to the reverse light for the tap - it's a "trigger" not the source of power for the camera. Camera is powered from a switched circuit (ignition "on") and is essentially on when the car in running. When its "triggered" by putting the car in Reverse, the input source on the LCD Screen auto-switches to "Back-up Camera". So, red wire to switched power source, black wire to ground and RCA lead to your monitor screen.

Hope this helps.

Oh Hey Mark,

Thank you for the quick reply, I really apprecaite it.

"always ACC on". Wow, I did not know that. Funny, I always thought once in reverse that would be the power source.

Now that makes sense, because my head unit has the ability to turn on at low speeds coming to a stop. I was trying to figure out how the head unit can turn on if the reverse lead is not activated.

That is why I assume you placed a manual override switch to control the power input to the camera. I will need a switch too because my camera has both infra red and exterior lights mounted around it.

Thanks Brother!

Performed a switcheroo today. Moved the Pioneer camera to the SUV and installed a new Alpine camera integrated in an Alpine frame. Much cleaner install, plus I like the the higher camera mounting position.

Just my 2 cents, but I like the more sutle look of the first position.

I'm biased because mine is tucted under the tag.
