Looks nice. How about some details of what brand and type of body components you added.

Good point Tim.

The car started out as a basic narrow bodied 911 1977 2.7 model. I purschased it with the intention of the conversion so pretty much got stuck in straight away. A strosek style front bumper and side sills were fitted with an RS style rear bumper. The rear bumper was modified so that the lamps sat flush with the bumper. Genuine turbo front wings and steel rear arch extensions. 18" Techart wheels with 60mm front spacers and 85mm rear due to such high offset from latter car. RS 3.8 rear spoiler and teardrop mirrors. Interior recon with custom made door cards and new headlining. Custom made rear exhaust with genuine 993 end pipes fitted. Sounds awsome!! Engine top end stripped fuel system rebuilt and all painted up to look pretty. Silly sized washer bottle under wing removed and 964 RS tank fitted under bonnet dur to wheels hitting. All new seals, badges etc. Took me 2 years to achieve and all the work i did myself except final prep and paint as i dont have the skills to paint that well. Wiring all custom to use new lights.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201008637.jpg

Very nice work - I give you that - but have you not created a bit of a sheep in wolf's clothing?

Are you looking for a pat on the back or constructive criticism?

No more than the factory M491 Carrera. The Carrera likely wieghed more with all metal parts and heavy brakes. Stock HP was ~217.

To some extent - comparing original euro models 150hp vs 231hp for 2.7 vs 3.2. The M491 can at least keep up with hot hatchbacks :)

wblackw9 01-22-2008 01:47 PM

Point taken but i have also had bikes so true power and fun lies there. I built this as it is my favourite shape and i wanted something that stood out more than a standard car. I will be uping the power shortly tho with either a turbo conversion or a 3.6. wait and see it will be done shortly.
Ben the car looks great any more to be done?

jaybird840 01-22-2008 02:23 PM

My 2.7 back 85 went against a new 3.2 and out pulled it until the other guy lost his nerve about 145 so dont knock a 2.7 til you have tried one.

I've had a couple.
This 2.4L with Webers, headers and Supertrapps could kick the **** out of a lot of cars in the twisties.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201050501.jpg

And then there is the Posermobile. This car started out with a warmed over 3.0L with SSIs. Ran 145mph all day long. Then I lost my mind and added the 930 engine. Still runs 145 all day long, just get there a little quicker. ;)

Again, the 3.2L M491 factory widebodies were no more powerful than any of the cars shown here.

My car was dubbed the Posermobile by myself to derail the rash of negativity bestowed on a car that looks like a Strosek 965 but has a lowly 225HP engine behind it. I enjoyed the 3.0L car for many years before the turbo bug hit.

I consider it a charitable event to transform a homely example of a 911.

A true work of art all these cars so far. The nice thing is not one of them is the same!! We all have our own prefernces when it comes to styling and power. From my own point of view i have a completely mint agressive looking 911 now exactly how i want it to look. As time goes by the power will be upped and then i have everything i wanted out of a 911 rolled into one. The charicteristics of an old car when it comes to handling and lets face it if you have the powersteering ABS brakes etc where is the fun. For me my car is a true drivers car, you feel your really in control with no assistance!! More fun!

Love the wheels! What are they?

jaybird840 01-23-2008 11:10 AM

ATP Spa's.... 18x8.5 up front and 18x10 out back. Running 285/30's in the rear. I've got maybe a 1/16th clearance both inside and out on the rears. Fronts were no problem.

Now thats what i call gorgeous. Only one thing i would personnaly do is maybe space the wheels out slightly more just for more agression:D

gsmith660 01-24-2008 03:42 AM

+1 on gorgeous. Mine is not a targa anymore and one of the things I contemplated was a speedster conversion I like the look parts are just hard to come by.

I guess you missed my original smilie ;)

Of course all other things being equal, a 231hp Carrera will leave a 150hp 2.7 a long way behind in any kind of race. If you are suggesting otherwise, you are deluded.

OK - its not wide, so it hardly fits the thread though.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...u/IMG_0899.jpg
Its a 260hp 3.2 with lots of other goodies. I have a full IROc kit bar the rear flares in the garage, but its not on yet.

Back on topic - given the suggestion that a 3.6 or turbo lies in the future, can I suggest a visit to impactbumpers.com. We have got a couple of completed 3.6 transplants and all sorts of interesting car and owners on a UK site that would be a very useful resource for anyone thinking of a 3.2 transplant in the UK.
