I agree, the prices really went up very quickly and I do not actually think the car was getting any better, but a lot of stuff was just becoming standard equipment.
I originally started looking at a few '86 cabs but found the '89 better equip for just 2-4K more...

You do save $10.00 for being a PCA member though.

Yeah, I saw that. But it also says

" For 1979 or older models, if you provide a legible copy of the original Monroney Label (Window Sticker), you will save $10.00 off the prices listed."

So that sort of indicates that for the extra $10 bucks you do get the window sticker.

Yes, it does. Different prices for East coast and West, many different models, conflicting data..... I started to do a spreadsheet for the original prices on all the long-hood cars and there seemed to be too many problems with the numbers to trust most published data. I don't have time right now to do any original research. This one will end up on the back burner...

Here are the specific costs regarding my 1970 911S Targa. The original owner of the car picked it up in Germany on 22 Feb 1970. Dollar figures were his calculations, as the invoice is in DM. His dollar conversion was based on a conversion rate of 1 dollar = 3.643 deutsche mark, which was the exchange rate as of 1 April 1970.

1970 911S Targa = $7,686
Leather Seats = $124
CO2 - US Equipment = $172
