Squeaky Front End New Twist
I have read many of the posts regarding front-end squeak. This is my story: My sway bar bushings have squeaked for a while, particularly when the car is cold. My mechanic used a different kind of bushing (don't know what), so they have been speaking a bit since they were replaced. But, it started to get a little worse. The other day I jacked up the car, and when the front came off the ground (unloaded the shocks) it made a really loud squeaking sound. Since then it has been squeaking like crazy. Any one have other ideas besides the sway bar and ball joint bushings? Note, I haven't tried to diagnose the problem yet. Thanks.

My squeek was due to worn out A-arm bushings allowing contact with the top of the torsion bars. Sounded like an old Ford until I replaced with elephant polybronze bushings.

I think Don has nailed your problem. This is VERY common.
Cheers

Thanks guys. I won't be able to get up under the car for a few days, but now I know what I'm looking for.

My squeak was due to broken tack welds on the threaded inserts for the 3 bolts holding the front of the A-arm to the pan.
