RoW Spec Source
I need to figure out what I have. I have a 1979 RoW SC. On a current thread here, it is mentioned that Euro SC's may have different gear ratios than USA models. I think that is the case here. I think this '79 is geared slightly lower than my '83 USA. I also wonder what pistons I have.
I need a source for this information. Literature. Where can I go for this information?

Did you get the german owners manual with the car? The gearing info is in the manual and other specs are in the technical info section. The info on the pistons is not in there. I have a pre-O2 sensor CIS car (early 80) which should be the same as a 79 ? I can scan tech info section and e-mail it to you.
John Adams (fellow ROW SC Owner) maybe we should start a ROWSCWDP club? Ha!

The best source is WKD 422 720 AKA little Tech book, it is a sumary of much of the info in the shop manuals
the one above is for all '78-81 SC & turbo, US and RoW your trans is a 915/61, which was used on all SC worldwide. '80-81 had different specs for US & RoW 915/61 11/35 18/33 23/29 26/26 28/23 8:31cwp p/c were either Mahle(Nikasil) or KS(Alusil) nor way of knowing which except the RoW were more likely to have Mahle

Hmmmm
Where does my 915/62 come from then? I thought most Row SC's came with a 915/62 where as USA/Canada came with the 915/61...

915/61 was used in 1977, 1978 and 1979. 915/62 was used from 1980 on.

Okay, perhaps my '79 RoW 915 is the same as my '83 USA 915, but if that is the case, then I've got problems with one or more tachs and/or speedos. With the '83, I am just over 70 mph at 3000 rpm. With the '79, 70 mph comes at 3200.

My last reply was directed at the question from 911freak about his ROW car. Your '83 USA 911SC has a 915/63. Fifth gear in that is the same as the 915/61, so you do have a tach or speedo problem.

I'm still not convinced. I have an exhaust that drones badly until right at 2900-3000 rpm, and then gets much quieter. That exhaust has been on both vehicles. On both vehicles, the droning goes away at 2900-3000 rpm. It happens at sixty mph in one vehicle, and at 70 in the other. Sure, those speedos may be off by 10 mph. I will switch instruments, and see what happens.
