Mark,

So sorry. Many prayers will be offered by me, and others. Don't let anything happen to your faith. We love you, but not as much as God does.

Jim

Sad news Mark. This sort of accident is so random,it's impossible to work back the 'what if' scenarios. What you can do is precisely what you have; draw on the support of others, and pour all your efforts into helping Beverly recover. Look towards a happy future. My thoughts are certainly, and positively, with you both.

never seen a 3 page thread.

Just shows the comradery here at the forum

Pelican has not only given us a forum to discuss our passion for our cars, but also to form a strange sort of cyber friendships

My condolences.
As a medical student, I am sure the doctors are working especially hard. It is heart wrenching when something like this happens to an innocent passenger, as opposed to some sort of reckless driving stunt.

Keep us posted on her condition. I hope this great response can play even the smallest role in comforting you in this time of tragedy.

Mark,
My prayers go out to you and Beverly. I hope the best for her with a quick recovery. Keep your head up, everything will be back to normal in no time.

I know I'm never seen on here, but I have read this board everyday for almost a year.
I never thought of something like this would come up on here. I'm glad it did though, with all these responses from all of you.

Mark,

This is one of those times that really help you to reorganize your priorities. Look for the bright spots and keep your chin up. All of us are thinking of Beverly.

Mark, Like Penz I don't post much either but I view this board daily. My friend Ashley sounds alot like Beverly, a real inspiration. Be there for Beverly and have faith. My thoughts are with you. Pete

Mark,

We are pulling for both of you.

I have been through a similar situation, and no matter how tough an individual may be, nothing can possibly prepare you for something like this - HANG IN THERE, IT WILL GET BETTER.

And Mark hasn't posted an update, which is concerning me even more.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and Beverly during this critical time.

My 3 sons are asleep now, but I will ask them to join me in praying for Beverly's recovery...

old_skul 04-25-2001 08:42 PM

Hey folks...wanted to give you a quick update.

First of all, while we're not out of the woods, she's in pretty stable (but still critical) condition. She has had a couple of surgeries to mend bones and to put a filter in her bloodstream for clots as a precaution.

She started opening her eyes on Monday around midnight, and yesterday was pretty good...no real responses though, until just this evening, where she managed to do one blink for yes and two for no.

This is a really good sign as it indicates her brain is waking up. In the meantime the orthopedic doctor who did her bone breaks is really happy with the outcome and says she'll be fully mobile barring complications.

Lastly...you guys. You *really really* mean a lot to me. There's two forums on the internet that I frequent - this one, and the TribalWar forums (remember AYBABTU?) - and between the two of those, Bev has has more than 300 wishes of wellbeing from some of the kindest, gentlest people in the world - you. If you're reading this, you obviously care, so let me take the time to say thank you very much.

I have been reading to Bev, and telling her about the amount of flowers she's been getting and the messages she's getting on the net, and she's been hearing all of this. When people have head injuries, they often talk about how they could hear everything going on in the room, they just couldn't respond. So I'm telling her about all of this.

And it helps. Not just her either - it really helps me. I'm not a religious guy at all - but hearing about people *caring* enough to post a message here really makes a difference for me and for Bev as well. She's making great progress.

We hope to move her to Cincinnati this weekend. We're in a hospital in Mansfield right now. Actually, if anyone wanted to send some flowers, you can do that:

Beverly Hood, room 3001
Mansfield Med Central SICU
335 Glessner Ave
Mansfield, OH 44903
419-526-8640

Again, folks - thank you VERY MUCH from the bottom of my and Bev's hearts. We need all the positive energy we can get right now so it is very much appreciated.

Mark,

Very, very, very sorry to hear about this. It sounds like her condition has taken a step in the right direction, and I certainly hope and pray for a speedy recovery. PLEASE keep us posted on her condition as we are all concerned and are hoping for the best.
