Ride height question - is this normal?
I remeasured the ride height on my 83 cabriolet this morning with a better tape measure than I could find at home.
My car is stock suspension pretty much, and just had new Fuzion ZRi 205/55/16 (F) and 225/50/16 (R) installed 2 days ago. When I am measuring, I am placing my tape on the floor at the CL of the wheel and parallel to the face of the wheel at the outermost spot on the well lip. Is this the correct placement? If it is, then I am curious about my measurements. They are as follows: FL: 25" FR: 25 1/4" RL: 24 3/4" RR: 25" I am very much a novice when it comes to suspension stuff. I am just trying to make sense out of the numbers, as I thought the both rears and both fronts would match up better. Thanks

Sounds pretty normal. The fenders aren't precision measuring points, more of a ball park.
The way to get more precise #s is off the torsion bar and axle centers or even better off corner balance scales.

And if your car has good corner weighting, the measurements at each corner are certainly NOT going to be the same.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I like to see the rear arch @ or slightly above the rear tire dia. Your tires should be about 24.85" so your rear height sounds like it would be very good. I like to see the front be about 5/8" higher than the rear. Your dimensions sound just a little less than this, which would give you a slightly greater nose down attitude, which some prefer.
Anyway, sounds like the car should look good and perform well @ those heights. As Kevin said, corner balancing is the best way to ensure best performance, although, unless you track the car, this may not be an issue. Why not enclose a pic?

Paul and Kevin,
I was wondering about the corner balancing having an effect on it, but like I said, I am barely a novice when it comes to suspensions, and so it would have merely been an educated guess. Sounds like I am not in too bad a shape. I need to look through my records and see if PO ever did a corner balance. Maybe I am due for a baseline for me. Here are the most recent pics after the new shoes the other day... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would prefer this attitude. I love the look of this car. I think it is Ed Hughes' car.
