Best source for megaphones?
Anyone know?
I like the Bursch for the street, but I want to explore other, even less civilized options. ![]()

Cool catalog - and they're local. Have you built a setup from a "kit of parts" from these guys? I'm thinking maybe one of the 3" or 4" diameter race mufflers coming directly off the factory pre-mufflers downstream of the heat exchangers, then a megaphone coming back and tilted up slightly.

Less brakes, more gas!

Have you looked at Coast? Their stuff is inccredibly light. Not sure they have megaphones though...

I bought megaphones in steel at the VW shop on Cherry Ave at Market St. I had to modify them and I fabbed cookie cutters for inserts. The megs were something like 20 bucks each.

Cool idea.
I'll probably stick with the Bursch for "normal" use but thinking ahead to the occasional weekend drive or P-car get together I might want to have another "option exhaust" kicking around that's loud and raw that I could pop on in an hour or so depending. Just an idea I'm kickin' around. I'll check that VW place - good idea.

How did this project go?
I want to save weight by removing my Bursch 2-1 system, and hope there is something lighter I can bolt on without much fabrication. Muffled megaphones seem like the ticket and I found your thread when searching.

Muffled megaphones are still very loud. Mine were attached to an M&K muffler, generation 1, R type. It was unbearable w/o the baffles.

Ugh! Too late. I just won the eBay bid for a set of Supertrapps for $125 and I really feel the urge to try them out.
However, they don't come with the two bolt connection pipe needed and I don't see these available from Pelican. Can anyone suggest a good source?
