You Wont Believe this!!! (Porsche, Supra and VW)

One Crazy VW Rabbit GTI from the early 80's.... with one very large Turbo. I'm sure it barely goes at low speeds.

Have fun with this one.

I went to the web site and saw the other great videos of the Watkins Glen Club Race. That track is nice with the medium tight turns and fast sweeps and all the nice elevation change. The green grass and trees is nice, too. I like to see grass next to asphalt instead of that ugly run-off area. Like der Gruen Holle,

Is the car that 935 on the web page? Can you give some technical specs?

This is just quick entertainment

I agree that RarlyL8's wins the pucker factor award...
It also provided a link to this video too:

Oh, and the guys in the 2nd video from Milt really got what they were asking for. I really enjoy driving at extra legal speeds but I NEVER pass blind or use both sides of the road unless you can see quite a ways ahead. Stupidity should be its own reward...

Yes it the car on the opening page of the site. Basically it is a 935 we built out of a '79 930 tub. It has a 3.8l, Haltech EFI, 12 injectors, cams ground to our specs, 800 or so HP. Crank is center drilled, main bearing modified, rod journals reground to 2 in using clevite nascar bearings, custom pauter rods.Regeared G50 box, and all the other go fast bits as needed.

Nice

When you say "Crank is center drilled" do you mean also that the oil is fed through the center of the crank like on the 912 engine from the 917? I thought that this was only do-able on the 917 because of the central power take-off. The flywheel, clutch, and other stuff was too hard to work around on a 911 I thought.

Probably a better term is cross drilled. We have the crank drilled at the center journal so the drilling passes through the existing oil passage. The bearing is then put in a fixture and grooved. All this gets more oil to the two and five rod journals. With these mods and the Ti valve train components the engine turns to about 9000 rpm. Usually shifting at 8800 in races.

My count was 83+ turns in this sweet section ( 9 minutes) That's an average of a turn about every 6.5 seconds. Who's got some video with even more twisties than that to share?
