You don't mention what year your car is. That can make a big difference.

My #1 project was the A/C upgrade. Before the upgrade the A/C was almost kinda sorta sometimes adequate. If it was HOT outside forget it. Now it will keep me cool and comfortable in the hottest conditions. I love the A/C on my 1985 Carrera.

Most satisfying project..............

The project that gave me the most personal satisfaction was the fuse box rebuild. My car had been plagued with electrical "ghosts" and I finally took on the job to update the fusebox. Since completion I have had only one problem and that was due to a poor connection (my bad!).* The original fuse box cover even still fits!

Swapping the engine with a nice, recently rebuilt 2.7L engine from a fellow Pelican. Replacing the CIS with Webers was also a big step forward for me!

I have only done minor projects, like shocks and tie rods for example. I am actually rather happy just being able to adjust the valves myself..

My most satisfing project was putting the car together 26 years ago but there have been many projects since that give that old feeling of accomplishment again.

Any and all projects, since this is my 1st 911 and I'm trying to do it the most difficult way possible:

-on a budget that's surely much smaller than most other DIY owners
-myself wherever/whenever possible
-correctly
-in a cluttered 1 car garage requiring careful maneuvering

So far I've rebuilt the webers, adjusted the valves, new plugs, magnecore wires, turbo lower valve covers, refinished cookie cutters, new trunk and decklid shocks, removed junk underdash (VW products?) AC controls and replaced with proper knee pads, replaced weltmeister SS kit with stock tower that I disassembled and lubricated + fresh ball cup bushing, added retracting seat belts (not quite done with that one, actually), replaced botched crane ignition with CDI/oem harness/pertronix, new coil, fixed a bunch of other misc wiring woes, and a bunch of even smaller little things not worth mentioning...

Someday I hope to be able to tackle the really intense stuff I've seen on this forum...like an engine tear-down and rebuild etc. I'm no hurry and enjoy just being around these cars.

Doing my suspension swap last summer, from blown stock Boges to Bilsteins, bigger t-bars (& the subsequent re-calculations to get the height close), Elephant Poly-Bronzes, turbo tie rods, new bushings, mounts, the works.

I still feel very satisfied doing my own valve adjustments on the car though.

If only I could get my rebuilt tach working properly...

Hi Fred,

Where did you buy your fuse box? I need to do this exact job. The PO tried to update from the original fuse box to the glass tube type fuse box and did a really poor job of it.

Thanks,

Phil
