First post, '69 911t just obtained, some questions

Hello all! Just picked up my first Porsche. Let me start with the short story...

Previous owner stopped driving the car 7-8 years ago when it started "sputtering" on him. His local garage (non-Porsche shop) told him it "probably" needed a valve job so he just parked in his garage where it has sat since. He also had an 89 C2 and that is why he wasn't motivated to go any further with it at the time. He's now done with that phase in his life hence how I got the car.

Upon getting the car home, I realized he had pulled the spark plugs out who knows how long ago. The motor is seized but I hear that the t's pistons will commonly do so when not driven for long periods. I did some thread searching and have read that I could try putting marvel mystery oil in each cylinder. How much should I put in and how long should I let it sit before attempting to turn it over?

Car also has 40mm Webers on it, were they available on the t's or probably just an upgrade?

I'll have many more q's as time comes but this is where I'll start. Oh, in case you want to see what a $450 911T looks like...

Wow, that is awesome. I would drop that engine and go to town on it. Having a few old cars of my own, driving a restored one is like going back in time. Driving your car would make me 4 years old. A 4 year old driving a Porsche. Congratulations on that steal!!!

Thanks everybody. I do remember the PO told me he tried to start it recently, I'm hoping he just pulled the plugs then thinking the motor would turn easier. I sent him an email but haven't heard back from him yet. Worse case scenario I'll just get a used running motor and rebuild this one myself.

The car was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The PO knew the car was worth more, he just wanted it out of his garage and with someone who would bring it back. I'm just grateful it's now in my garage.

Congratulations! At $450 you couldn't get upside down on that car unless you gold-plated it! How nice to hear something like that going to a true enthusiast instead of someone ready to push it off to Europe. Whatever you do with the car, you're the envy of this board. When she's up and running, drive it like you stole it, because you did!

Webers came standard from the factory for the 69T.

I think yanking the engine, then placing on an engine stand so the cylinders are vertical would be the first step in freeing up the cylinders. After your first attempts at soaking the cylinders, you can determine what's needed to get the engine back into running condition. Hope for the best but expect the worst. If it's any consolation, T parts are relatively plentiful, but you may be enticed to upgrade.

I'd just pour a "bunch" of MMO in and let it sit a few days or week(s).

Try turning the motor over by hand every once in a while. Say 1 day, 2 days, 5 days, 14 days.

Thanks all. I will soak the cylinders and cross my fingers. I got hold of the PO and he told me his friend pulled the plugs 2 years ago when he last tried to start it. He couldn't beleive the plugs weren't back in there.

All the #'s on the car match so far, only one I haven't checked yet is the tranny. Here are more pics. LMK what you guys think of the condition. Car used to be Irish green per paint code, had been changed to gold at some point. I'm guessing the car must have been done over in the 80's. Windshield moldings and rear glass molding are still soft and pliable with no dry rot! I am amazed by this. Very excited to get this project going.

Oh, the car found me, I didn't even have to look. I had an ad that stated "WTB: VW or Porsche project wanted" and I got the email.

I also know where a very nice 71 914 W/73 2.0l (carb'd) is, 3 year old paint, minimal rust, $2000. It is a driver and a nice one. I was getting ready to buy it then I came across the 911t so...
